Police seize 20 kg of heroin at Bulgarian border

Customs and police officers last night seized 19.6 kg of heroin in Gradina at the Serbian-Bulgarian border. Local customs chief Vladimir Stojanović told Beta that the drugs had been found on a Turkish national, K.M. (27), driving an Audi A6 with Swiss number plates, who had been entering Serbia.

Gazprom and Srbijagas officials have met in Belgrade to begin final talks on the creation of a joint company to run the Banatski Dvor underground gas reservoir. “Gazprom and Srbijagas experts will discuss the contract over the next two days, after which the document is expected to be initialed and signed,“ Srbijagas informed Beta.

A Molotov cocktail has been thrown into the courtyard of Kosovo government HQ during a protest by “war veterans”. Kosovo police spokesman Besim Hoti told Beta that the resulting blaze had immediately been extinguished without any consequences.

Following the release of iPhone 3.1 with the accompanying SDK for developers earlier this month, Apple has seeded iPhone developers with iPhone SDK 3.1 beta 2 and iPhone OS 3.1 beta 2. Noticed that the Wi-Fi connection feature offered by the version is “huge for developers”.

Systems has delivered a beta release of ColdFusion Builder, an integrated development environment for its popular ColdFusion server-side development platform.
Adobe ColdFusion Product Manager Andrew Lehman said that the number one requested enhancement was an IDE (integrated development environment) for ColdFusion. So, Adobe answered that call with an Eclipse-based IDE that also feature integration with Adobe’s Eclipse-based Flash Builder.
Adobe also shipped a beta of ColdFusion 9, the upcoming release of company’s development environment for for building dynamic Web sites and Internet applications. ColdFusion 9 applications easily access data from existing enterprise infrastructure including Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office files and portlet standards. Also, new ColdFusion 9 features include an Adobe AIR application for managing multiple ColdFusion servers from one location.

Scientists at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) are working on a simple blood test that may help predict Alzheimer’’s risk.
They say amyloid beta forms the plaques considered the hallmark of Alzheimer’’s disease, and if the immune system isn”t adequately clearing amyloid beta, it may indicate Alzheimer’’s risk.

Solana: Serbia’s progress “irreversible”

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana says that Serbia is progressing “irreversibly” toward a future in the EU, according to Beta news agency. Ahead of his trip to the region, Solana said that Serbia must sustain the high level of cooperation with the Hague Tribunal “indicated by Prosecutor Serge Brammertz in his last report, which EU members noted”.

After releasing the much anticipated The Future Will Come (due 4/21 on DFA Records), Juan MacLean and Nancy Whang take The Juan MacLean on the road this spring. Juan, Nancy and band will be playing tracks live from The Future Will Come, which Filter magazine described as “perfectly orchestrated and directed to achieve maximum mood and dance-ability.” If the weather doesn’t make you sweat, your dance moves will.
The Juan MacLean is co-headlining the tour with Stockholm’s Axel Willner, aka The Field (Kompakt). After breaking out of the “boy and his laptop” mold following a tour with !!!, Willner teamed up with friends – percussionist/bass player Dan Enqvist and multi-instrumentalist Andreas Söderstrom to see what they could accomplish playing together. Modernizing their kraut rock influences, The Field recorded Yesterday & Today, due out May 19 on Anti- Records.
