India DLF Assets eyes $1.7b SGX listing: Financial Express

The founders of Indian realty DLF (DLF.BO) aims to list their real estate investment trust DLF Assets in Singapore by June next year to raise US$1.2 billion ($1.66 billion), the Financial Express newspaper reported today.

The move is based on an assessment the Singapore market has began to improve, it said, quoting unidentified company officials.

Serbia, France sign agreement on youth mobility

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Božidar Đelić and French Minister for Immigration Eric Besson signed an agreement on youth mobility. The agreement, signed in Belgrade this Wednesday, will enable young people from Serbia to study, do internships and look for jobs in France.

Cop killer wounded in shootout

Željko Bošković, aka Vuk, 42, from the Bosnian town of Foča, was shot on Tuesday after committing armed robbery. He is suspected of stealing 50,000 convertible marks from a post office in the town of Brod na Drini.

Đelić promotes book on sustainable development

Deputy PM in charge of EU integration Božidar Đelić on Wednesday in Belgrade promoted a book which reports said he “conceived”. Đelić – who is also minister of science in the Cvetković cabinet – presented the book, entitled, “Sustainable Development – Our Common Future” to the vistors and reporters at the 54th International Book Fair.

Temasek, GIC cut stakes in India’s ICICI

Singapore state investor Temasek (TEM.UL) has cut its stake in ICICI (ICBK.BO), India’s second-biggest lender, to 5.76% as of September 30 from 7.6% at the end of June, Bombay Stock Exchange data showed. 
 
The Government of Singapore Investment Corp (GIC.UL), the city-state’s bigger fund, also trimmed its stake in ICICI (IBN.N) to 1.53% at the end of September from 1.66% at the end of June, the data showed. 

MP receives undisclosed threats

Member of the Serbian parliament and Judicial High Council Boško Ristić stated that he had received a threatening letter. However, he did not wish to discuss the details.

Slovakia supports visa liberalization

Serbian and Slovak deputy PMs Božidar Đelić and DuÅ¡an ÄŒaplovič met on Saturday in Kovačica, Vojvodina. According to Đelić’s statement after the meeting, Serbia has Slovakia’s full support for EU visa liberalization, which could come into force on January 1, 2010.

Anniversary of murder of party officials

The Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) is marking the 10th anniversary since the Ibarska road murder of four of its members. Veselin Bošković, Zvonko Osmajlić, Dragan Vušurović and Vučko Rakočević were also remembered in church and cemetery ceremonies in Belgrade this Saturday.

India’s L&T buys fund unit from DBS India JV

The financial services unit of Indian engineer Larsen & Toubro (LART.BO) said yesterday it has signed an memorandum of understanding to buy DBS Cholamandalam Asset Management Ltd for 450 million rupees ($13.3 million) adjusted for cash and current assets.

DBS Cholamandalam Asset Management is an unit of Cholamandalam DBS Finance (CHLA.BO), a joint venture between India’s diversified Murugappa group and Singapore’s DBS (DBSM.SI).

DBS Chola managed 28.93 billion rupees as at end August, a statement from L&T said, valuing the firm at about 1.6% of its average assets managed.

Thomson Reuters had in early September reported L&T was in talks to buy the fund firm.

Morgan Stanley says SingTel may raise stake in Bharti

Singapore Telecommunications (STEL.SI) could maintain a 25% stake in the combined entity created as a result of a potential merger between India’s Bharti Airtel (BRTI.BO) and South Africa‘s MTN (MTNJ.J), Morgan Stanley said in a report on Wednesday. 
 
“We do not expect the Bharti-MTN transaction to have material dilutive impact to SingTel’s EPS (earnings per share),” analysts at the U.S. investment bank said. 

Petition launched against Croatian doctor

Residents of the Croatian village of Vrhovina have launched a petition against Dr. Esad Mujkanović, who refused to treat a patient because he was a Serb. The Serb in question is one Boško Radić, who lost the sight of one eye last week and whose condition is steadily deteriorating.

Trial of B92 cameraman assailants adjourned

The trial of 3 men accused of attacking B92 cameraman Boško Branković has been adjourned till Oct 29 after two witnesses failed to appear at today’s hearing. Milan Savatović, identified as the chief suspect, Stefan Milićević and Nikola Lazić are accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Branković during a protest against the arrest of Radovan Karadžić on July 24 last year.

“We are working on their behalf,” one source said, referring to L&T Finance, a wholly owned unit of L&T. “We can’t share details at the moment. Let’s wait for the transaction.”
Officials at Cholamandalam DBS, a joint venture between India’s Murugappa Group and Singapore’s DBS Bank (DBSM.SI) that run DBS Cholamandalam Asset Management, could not be immediately reached for comment.

Bharti, MTN likely to give update on talks on Monday, say sources

Bharti Airtel (BRTI.BO) and MTN Group (MTNJ.J) are likely to update the market on Monday on exclusive talks aimed at merging their operations, two sources with direct knowledge of the development said.

The exclusive talks over the deal, which would see each firm pay cash and stock for a stake in the other, were due to lapse today. Last week, sources told Thomson Reuters the talks were likely to be extended by at least two to three weeks.
