Dell Streak Now Boasts Android 2.2 but Uneven Experience
Dell originally released its 5-inch Streak tablet/smartphone in the U.K., before porting the device over to U.S. shores in August. Early reviews complained about the Streak’s Android 1.6 operating system, which seemed antiquated given the rapid pace of Android development. Dell waited a few months before pushing through the Streak’s Android 2.2 ("Froyo") update, bringing the tablet device onto the same level as other Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S. Given how first criticism of the Streak largely focused on Android 1.6, how does the device fare with an updated operating system? With its Snapdragon 1GHz processor, apps do run quickly, and the hardware itself feels very solid and well put-together. The size of the device, however, may hit a sour spot with users who feel it’s a bit too big to use as a smartphone, but a bit too small to serve as a tablet. However, Dell’s upcoming smartphones and (reportedly) larger tablets may offer something for those users who find the Steak occupies too much of an uncomfortable middle ground. – …

Apple’s 27-Inch iMac Boasts Intel Power with Aesthetic Appeal

Weighing in at 30 pounds, with processor options that include a 3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor or 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, the 27-inch iMac provides a lot of power for multimedia workers or those with a need to watch widescreen movies while performing heavy-duty number-crunching.
