Box.net Becomes Box, Goes for Enterprise Collaboration

Cloud-storage company enlists some rather well-known partners VMware, Samsung and NetSuite to help it go corporate. – PALO ALTO, Calif. Box,

cloud-storage-service market and moving into a different category: that of
enterprise cloud storage and
real-time collaboration services.

To help it along this new path, Box has enlisted w…

Grateful Dead: Europe Â’72 Tour Box Set

INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED, LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION

AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT DEAD.NET AND SHIPS IN SEPTEMBER

sketch of new box set

Grateful Dead slipped the
shores of America and crossed the pond for its first-ever major European tour in April 1972. The legendary 22-
show run spawned Europe ’72, a live triple album that remains one of the band’s best-selling and most
beloved releases. A tour this momentous deserves a boxed set of historic proportions and Dead.net has stamped your passport to relive every note from the European tour
with Europe ’72: The Complete Recordings, an individually numbered, limited edition collection
that includes more than 60 discs with over 70 hours of music featuring every show from what is arguably the
Grateful Dead’s greatest tour. The box set ships in September.

Europe ’72: The Complete Recordings is housed in a replica steamer trunk reminiscent of the ones
prevalently used at the time. The travel
chest contains tour memorabilia, a coffee-table book with never-before-seen photos, and a comprehensive essay
by noted Dead author Blair Jackson. Each performance will also be accompanied by an essay specific to
the show written by top Dead scholars including David Gans, Gary Lambert, Nicholas Meriwether, and
Steve Silberman.

Jeffrey Norman, the primary mixer of the Dead’s archival multi-track material for the past 15 years, is
mixing each
show from the original 16-track recordings.

Due to ship in September, the boxed set is available exclusively from Dead.net, which is taking orders now. The
price of the collection is $450, which works out to the remarkably low price of about $20 for each show, or roughly
the cost of a transatlantic flight from New York City to London in 1972 (price of time machine not included).

The first 3,000 fans to order will have
their copy personalized with a name requested by the purchaser. Once the 3,000 order goal is reached by April 1,
Dead.net will continue to take orders through the summer but will limit production of the collection to a maximum
of 7,200 pieces, all of which will be individually numbered. Orders will no longer be taken at some date (to be
determined) later in the summer.

The tour offers a snapshot of a band at the top of its game, still ascending in the wake of three straight hit albums—
Workingman’s Dead, American Beauty, and the live Grateful Dead (“Skull & Roses”). It had been a
year since
the lineup had gone to its single-drummer configuration, six months since Keith Godchaux had been
broken in as the group’s exceptional pianist, and this marked the first tour to feature Donna Godchaux as
a member of the touring band.

There was a ton of new, unreleased material that came into the repertoire in the fall of ’71 and during the spring of
’72, including “Tennessee Jed,” “Jack Straw,” “Mexicali Blues,” “Comes A Time,” “Ramble On Rose,” “One More
Saturday Night,” “Black-Throated Wind,” “Looks Like Rain” and Pigpen‘s “Chinatown Shuffle,” “The Stranger
(Two
Souls In Communion)” and “Mr. Charlie.” (Sadly, this was Pigpen’s final tour.) All those future classics were
interspersed with songs from the aforementioned “hit” albums—such as “Uncle John’s Band,” “Casey Jones,” “Sugar
Magnolia,” “Bertha,” and “Not Fade Away”—and then were topped off by loads of big jamming numbers—the Europe
’72 tour produced spectacular versions of “Dark Star,” “The Other One,” “Playing in the Band,” “Truckin’,” “China Cat
Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider,” “Good Lovin’,” “Lovelight,” and even the early Pig chestnut “Caution.”

Brothers Past Release Third Volume of Digital Box Set

LIVE IN WINSTON SALEM, NC ON MARCH. 20, 2003

Everything Must Go Volume 3

Brothers Past have released
the third installment in their tenth anniversary digital box set, entitled Everything Must Go. This
release dates back to March. 20, 2003, from a live performance at Rubber Soul in Winston Salem,
NC.

Says the band, “Some of us were into it because of the Beatles reference. It
was a small turnout that night, but one of the people in attendance was Rich Steele, who happens to do
sound for
the band these days. Rich made a multitrack recording of the show and that’s what’s being released. The show is
notable for a couple of reasons, including the legendary “dub” Crutch, which Clay Parnell has referred to as
the first
time the band played something approaching authentic dub.”

The album is available for free stream or purchase at http://downlow.brotherspast.com/.

The return of advertising: The box rocks

As the advertising market recovers, two clear winners are emerging: the internet and television

AS WESTERN economies slid towards recession three years ago, media and advertising executives began to ask worrying questions. Would the advertising slump prove structural or cyclical? Would marketing money return to all media, or just a few? The answers are becoming clear. There are two surprises, says Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of WPP, the world’s biggest ad agency. The first is the health of the American advertising market, which has benefited from government stimulus. The second is the recovery of old media.

Brothers Past: 10th Anniversary Digital Box Set, Live Gigs

LOTS OF COOL ACTIVITY FROM A TRULY MODERN ROCK BAND

Brothers Past by Tobin Voggesser

It was right around this time ten years ago when Tom Hamilton, Tom McKee, Clay Parnell and Rick Lowenberg first began making music together in a house near West Chester, PA. Ten years later, Brothers Past is still going strong, and they’ve got some big plans for the next year to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the band.

They’ll be kicking off the celebration next month with an anniversary party at the famed Bowery Ballroom in New York City on October 9. The Bowery has been home to many a great BP show, including the CD release party for This Feeling’s Called Goodbye. The party begins at midnight on 10/10/10 (Saturday night, but technically a Sunday show).

The band has also announced the release of Everything Must Go, a digital box set of unreleased studio tracks and live music from over the years. And beginning in October, Brothers Past will be cleaning out the vaults by digitally releasing a soundboard recording from the past along with an unreleased studio track. The tracks will be released on the 10th of each month for the next year. Download
information and cost will be made available soon.

The remainder of 2010 will be spent balancing time between the road and the
studio. Colorado fans take note: Brothers Past returns October 7-8 with allies The New Deal. And down south, the band will be performing in Charleston, Blacksburg and
Baltimore (Oct 21-23 with friends Telepath) Plans for a Thanksgiving run will be announced soon, but one detail is the band will be back at the River Street Jazz Cafe on Thanksgiving Eve, a BP tradition.

Thursday, Oct 7 – Fox Theatre – Boulder, CO (w/ The New Deal)
Friday, Oct 8 – RE:DEFINITION – CERVANTE’S, DENVER, CO (a two-day event with The New Deal, Future Rock & more)
