Temasek invests $525m in Brazil’s Odebrecht

Brazilian engineering firm Odebrecht said on Tuesday its oil and gas division has received a US$400 million ($525 million) investment from Singapore state investor Temasek.
“This represents the most important step in the growth of OOG,”the company said in a press release, referring to Odebrecht Oleo e Gas.

The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation is in talks to buy a 16% stake in Brazilian investment bank Banco BTG Pactual SA for US$2.4 billion ($3.22 billion), Exame magazine reported, citing people familiar with the negotiations it didn’t name.
Pactual is controlled by billionaire Brazilian Andre Esteves.
GIC, as the sovereign fund is known, said in an e-mail it had no comment on the article when contacted by Bloomberg News. Spokespeople for BTG Pactual in Sao Paulo weren’t available for comment before business hours.

Choo Chiau Beng, head of the world’s biggest rig maker, doesn’t believe in quick returns.
Choo, who holds the top post at Singapore’s US$10 billion ($13.8 billion) Keppel Corp (KPLM.SI) had to work his way up after starting his career as a ship repair management in 1971.
As Keppel fights a slump in orders after a five-year boom that ended in 2008, the naval architect needs to steer the firm through difficult times.

FloaTEC Singapore, an equal joint venture between Keppel FELS (Keppel FELS) and J. Ray McDermott, has won a contract worth about US$1 billion ($1.4 billion) with the Papa-Terra Joint Venture, consisting of Petrobras and Chevron, to build and operate the P-61 Tension Leg Wellhead Platform (TLWP).
