Brocade Offers High-Performance, Efficient Ethernet Switch

Brocade is looking to give service providers a switch that will offer the performance they want in a compact and energy-efficient form factor. The NetIron CER 2000 Series switch offers 1 Gigabit Ethernet and 10G Ethernet capabilities in a 1U form factor with almost three times the performance of a comparable Cisco switch while taking up 33 percent less space and consuming 66 percent less power, Brocade officials say.

Brocade Sale to HP, Oracle or Other Player Would Make Sense: Analysts

Analysts say selling networking vendor Brocade to a major player such as HP, Oracle, IBM, Cisco or Dell could make sense for the companies involved, particularly given the increasing competition around unified data center solutions, which require a networking element, according to analysts. Brocade, which reportedly has been put on the market, has terrific products but needs a better distribution channel, said one analyst. Brocade Puts Itself Up for Sale, Report Says

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Brocade is now for sale and that both Hewlett-Packard and Oracle are interested in acquiring the network equipment maker.
