Younger Brother‘s Night Lead Me Astray EP, their first studio release since 2007 and the first to feature contributions from members of the Disco Biscuits, Brothers Past, and the Benevento-Russo Duo, is now available digitally from their own Younger Brother Records. The release is a preview for their upcoming full-length Vaccine, expected in early 2011 along with an accompanying worldwide tour.
Simon Posford (Shpongle, Hallucinogen), Benji Vaughan (Prometheus) and Ruu Campbell (Leftfield) are the creative driving force behind this electronica-infused post-rock project. In late 2008, these three UK principles enlisted the help of their American live band members to join them in London for work on the follow-up to 2007′s The Last Days of Gravity. On Election Day evening, guitarist Tommy Hamilton, bassist Marc Brownstein and drummer Joe Russo took off for England and began recording what would become Younger Brother’s first studio album to feature extensive live instrumentation. In the two years since, the electronic wizards Posford and Vaughan have been crafting and refining the sonic environment in which these live tracks reside and interact.
The EP release features three versions of the title track (the album version, a radio edit, and a remix done by the band themselves), another track from the upcoming release (“Pound A Rhythm”), plus a remix of “All I Want” (from The Last Days of Gravity) by fellow British live electronica band Cicada. The EP is available digitally at iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, and other digital retailers.

As MoogFest 2010 draws even closer (just two weeks to go!!), we have more exciting announcements to
share with you! MoogFest 2010 has added Shpongle (Simon Posford DJ Set) to the already incredible Saturday lineup, and a very
rare performance by Younger
Brother (Live) to Sunday’s bill, rounding out what is certainly the biggest Halloween party around.
Additionally, the festival’s film screenings for Saturday and Sunday afternoon are now in place — MoogFest 2010
will be presenting the Southeast premiere of “Bouncing Cats: A film by Nabil Elderkin & Red Bull Media House” and
“Moog: a documentary film by Hans Fjellestad”. Following the screening of “Moog: a documentary film by Hans
Fjellestad”, Herb Deutsch (co-collaborator on first Modular in 1963) and DJ Spooky, both of whom are
featured in the documentary, will take part in a Q & A session with the audience.

A special run of shows is taking place this weekend, September 23-26, to benefit Handijam. Founded in 2000 by
Charlene Raco, Handijam for Handicapped, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that serves the terminally ill,
mentally, physically and emotionally challenged in Staten Island. Its main purpose is to provide entertainment for
those who get only their basic necessities met.
David Nelson, the heart of
the New Riders of the Purple Sage and
longtime friend and music partner of The
Grateful Dead‘s Jerry Garcia, is headlining a run of concerts of his all star eponymous band to benefit
the cause.
The band features Barry Sless (Phil Lesh and Friends) on lead and pedal steel guitar, drummer John
Molo (Phil Lesh, Bruce Hornsby, John Fogerty), bassist Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna, Rod
Stewart), and keyboardist Mookie Siegel (Phil Lesh,Donna Jean and The Tricksters). Sless,Siegel and Molo
also lend their instrumental wizardry to opening act Moonalice at these benefits.
Sharing the bill is the classic band Big
Brother & The Holding Company, best known for their famed lead singer, the late great Janis
Joplin. Rounding out the bill is New Riders’ bassist Ronnie Penque with his own band.
