Genting Singapore buys Singapore Technologies Building for $146m

Genting Singapore PLC says its wholly-owned subsidiary, Resorts World Properties, has agreed to purchase Singapore Technologies Building at 3 Lim Teck Kim Road for $146 million from Singapore Technologies Holdings.

Singapore Technologies Building is a 13-storey freehold office building with office space on the ground floor. The property has an existing gross floor area of 128,600 square feet and an approved plot ratio of 6.6 over its freehold site area of 1,802.5 square metres. The property also contains 135 car parking lots.

As the property is close to the Resorts World Sentosa, Genting Singapore plans to house its support departments for the integrated resort in that building.

GIC buys European rescue debt, May support further bond sales

Government of Singapore Investment Corp., a sovereign wealth fund with US$100 billion ($128.4 billion) of reserves, bought some of the European debt issued to finance Ireland’s bailout, Deputy Chairman Tony Tan said.

“We believe the bond is relatively safe given how it’s structured and it gives us reasonable yield,” Tan said in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. GIC will consider buying more European rescue debt in future sales, he said.

Standard Chartered buys GE Money’s Singapore unit: Update

Standard Chartered Plc, the U.K. bank that generates most of its earnings in Asia, agreed to buy Singapore’s GE Money to bolster its consumer lending operations in the city-state.

The transaction is likely to be completed this quarter, London-based Standard Chartered said in an e-mailed statement today. Ashia Razzaq, the bank’s head of investor relations for Asia, and Lisa Farrugia, a spokeswoman for GE Capital in Southeast Asia, declined to provide the financial terms. The bank paid $850 million to $900 million for the asset, Dow Jones reported, citing a person it didn’t name.

HLN Technologies buys 15.16% stake in Tianjin Swan Lake Real Estate Development Co.

Mainboard-listed HLN Technologies, the manufacturer of precision metallic, elastomeric and polymeric components, says it is acquiring a 15.16% stake in Tianjin Swan Lake Real Estate Development Co. for RMB64 million ($12.7 million) to gain a foothold in China’s property market.

The consideration for the proposed acquisition is to be satisfied by cash of RMB58.5 million and the issue of 2.2 million HLN treasury shares priced at $0.50 each, which is at a premium of 14.3% to the group’s volume weighted average share price of $0.4375 on Jan 19.

Singtel says buys $39m worth of shares in Bharti Airtel

Singapore Telecommunications (STEL.SI) said on Tuesday it has paid $39 million for 4.07 million shares in Bharti Airtel, pushing up its stake in the Indian firm to 32.15% from 32.04% previously.

Singtel stock closed up 0.66% on Tuesday at $3.07.

Seadrill buys two rigs for total $1.54b, shares up: Update 2

Norway’s Seadrill (SDRL.OL) is to acquire two ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs, expecting to reap benefits from an improving drilling market this year and sending its shares higher.

 

Seadrill, one of the world’s largest deep-water drillers, said on Monday the total project price for the two rigs is estimated to be about US$1.2 billion ($1.54) and said it had secured new bank debt to finance the investment.

Norway’s Seadrill (SDRL.OL) said on Monday it would acquire two ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs, sending its shares higher.
 
Shares in Seadrill rose 1.9% to 201 crowns in the opening trade, outperforming a 0.8% rise in the Oslo stock exchange benchmark index.
