Bassnectar: Cozza Frenzy Album & Support Tour

BASSNECTAR TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM COZZA FRENZY

NATIONWIDE TOUR TO LAUNCH MID-SEPTEMBER

Bassnectar

The brand new full-length Bassnectar album, Cozza Frenzy drops digitally on September 29, with CDs available in stores on October 27. The “Cozza Frenzy” single and DJ TOOLS Collection are available now at Bassnectar.net and select online retailers. A nationwide tour will launch in mid-September, sweeping through over 30 cities in North America, including headlining shows at The Fillmore in Denver, New York’s Irving Plaza and the House of Blues in Chicago as well as festivals like Austin City Limits and Symbiosis in Groveland, CA.

Bassnectar’s own label, Amorphous Music, teams up with Child’s Play Records to unleash Cozza Frenzy, an amalgamation of sound that combines dubstep, electro, hip-hop, and all styles of dirty digital bass-heavy music and smashes it all into a collision of wobbling, perverted bass lines, and hypnotic hide-and-seek adventures. A work three years in the making, this rich and eclectic collection of 15 songs features collaborations with artists such as Fever Ray, Zumbi of Zion I, Mr. Projectile, and Capital J.

“I wanted to express something emotionally visceral; reflective of the different shades of sonic mania I feel, each song having its own personality and character. I don’t care if something is hip or trendy or not, I just want to give strength to feelings. This is music for people.” With a rabid fan base that grows by the day, “this music” is primed to cause more than just a frenzy when it drops upon the masses September 29.

The full track listing for Cozza Frenzy is as follows:

1. Boombox

2. Cozza Frenzy Feat. Seasunz

3. Cozza Frenzy (Mega-Bass Remix)

Hidden Cameras: New LP & Tour

Canadian Folkers Hidden Camera Trek Across North America

Behind Their Fourth LP Origin:Orphan

Hidden Cameras

The experimental folk outfit Hidden Cameras have just announced a massive North American tour in support of their fourth full-length, Origin:Orphan. Fans can purchase tickets at galleryac.com. As a bonus, in anticipation of the new album and tour, fans who purchase tickets will immediately receive a free digital download of the newly released five-track In The NA.

Origin:Orphan was recorded in Berlin, Germany and Toronto, and delves into new musical territory. The dark synths of the title track and dominant orchestration of “Walk On” counterbalance the upbeat playfulness of “In The NA” and “Underage.” The Hidden Cameras, who have always been known for their celebratory live performances, often take to churches and art galleries, with forty-piece dance troupes. The Band even performed in Munich, Germany during the halftime of a Bayern-Munich soccer game in front of a crowd of over 100,000.

Canada festival stage collapses

The stage at an open-air country music festival in Canada has collapsed in sudden, high winds, killing one person and injuring 15 others.

The Associated Press news agency says one of the performers, a member of the Billy Currington band, was removed from the wreckage with a badly injured arm.

The Big Valley Jamboree, held annually near Edmonton, in central Alberta, attracts thousands of music fans.

It is not clear whether the last day of the festival on Sunday, will be held.

Spectators fled in panic as a severe thunderstorm, with high winds and rain, swept through the festival site early on Saturday evening.

People flee in panic, in strong winds under a black sky

One of the Billy Currington band guitarists, Doug Collins, told the Calgary Herald: "I was playing slide guitar and I have to look constantly at my hands. All of a sudden, I saw this blast coming at me and I ran off the stage.

"One amp started falling toward me and that is when it got bizarre. That’s when I ran."

Billy Currington, a musician from Nashville, was unhurt.

Music fan Maris Orydzuk described what happened to Canadian broadcaster CTV: "Next thing I know there is like concrete, and there’s something on my back. I can’t see a thing.

"It was awful. I thought my life was ending because it was completely dark and black. There was a tiny, tiny hole that I crawled through."

The film actor Kevin Costner, and his band Modern West, were due to perform after Billy Currington.

The four-day festival is held each year at Camrose, a city about 75km (45 miles) south-east of Edmonton. </p

Franti Ruptures Appendix:Cancels Several Performances

[Update to previously reported story]

Michael Franti

Michael Franti has canceled four concert appearances, the result of emergency surgery this past Thursday, to remove a ruptured appendix. He is currently recuperating at an undisclosed hospital, but is expected to be discharged within the next few days. Michael is expecting his doctor’s clearance to return to the road in time for his Friday, July 31st performance in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“After many days and many doctors, it was discovered that my appendix had ruptured,” said Michael. “It was removed this past Thursday. It’s with deep emotion that I will not be able to perform over the next week or so, especially in places like Calgary, Vegas, Tahoe and Berkeley, where I’ve been fortunate enough to share my music with so many people over the years. I’m sorry to disappoint, but I will be back as soon as possible. Big love.”

Michael had canceled his July 23rd appearance at the Calgary Folk Festival and will not perform at his July 24th appearance with the Counting Crows in Las Vegas and appearances in Lake Tahoe, Nevada and at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California, also with the Counting Crows.

The cancellations come as Michael celebrates the first multi-format hit of his career, “Say Hey (I Love You),” from his All Rebel Rockers CD, the highest Billboard Top 200 Album Chart debut of his career. The single has topped 200,000 in digital sales, a career sales high, and just this week debuted in the Top 10 on iTunes/Alternative Chart.

Dr. Susan Albers: Are You a Gastrosexual? Comfort Food, Cooking & Sex

A “gastrosexual” is a man who uses cooking as a way to seduce you. Many of us could tell a story or two about being wooed (okay I’m speaking from experience) with the help of a little fettuccine and olive oil.
