The Last Waltz Ensemble: Holiday Show and CD Release

SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR CELEBRATING THE BAND’S FINAL SHOW

The Last Waltz Ensemble

On Friday, November 19, 2010, Smiths Olde Bar in Atlanta will host The Last Waltz Ensemble‘s all star
celebration of The Band‘s final show at Winterland for a seventh consecutive year. The show has become a
tradition, an annual trek, a night for fans to dance, sing along, revel and remember. This year will feature opening
sets by Turtle Folk and O’Mello-Cello Tree, as well as guest performances by: Oliver
Wood
, Jon Liebman, Jessica Sheridan, David Fisch, Preston Holcomb
from The Grapes, Tracey and Chad from Moontower, Coy Bowles from The Zach Brown
Band and many more.

“Maybe people come back year after year to memorialize The Band’s departed brethren, Rick Danko and
Richard Manuel, maybe to remember a young Bob Dylan. Or perhaps to remember Costello, we
will have a lot of the same guys on this show that were on Sean’s last show, or a Last Waltz Ensemble moment from
the last 6 years. One thing I know is that the material is the glue. It might be the glue that keeps them coming
back.”

The Last Waltz Ensemble has just completed another tribute to The Band’s tunes with New Orleans Jokerman, an
effort recorded in New Orleans and Atlanta with many of the finest musicians in each city. The LWE took a pull of
Dylan and Band tunes and seasoned a fine gumbo with the zest of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, George Porter
Jr
, members of The Neville Brothers, The Radiators, Blackberry Smoke and even the great
Francine Reed from Lyle Lovett’s Large Band fame.

Track list:

Zappa’s Congressional Testimony Released on CD

25TH ANNIVERSARY OF CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY

Congress Shall Make No Law…

On September 19th, 2010, Zappa Records released Congress Shall Make No Law . . . It is a CD
containing Frank Zappa‘s 1985 remarks against the censorship of free expression by artists. The hearings,
influenced in no small part by the then newly-formed Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) headed by
Susan Baker and Tipper Gore to promote a rating system for recorded music, in response to
such Bills as H.R. 2911 concerning the collection of a blank tape tax to benefit the recording industry, were recorded
on Capitol Hill and at Annapolis, MD.

Congress Shall Make No Law . . . features over 40 minutes of Frank Zappa’s uncut testimony.
Zappa’s attorney, Larry Stein, who accompanied Zappa to the Senate hearing in 1985, contributed liner
notes for the
CD; artist Bill Miller designed the stunning album cover.

According to Gail Zappa, Congress Shall Make No Law . . . is released as an educational
project, representing Zappa’s tireless commitment to the First Amendment which he felt his duty to protect by
providing (in his words) “stimulating digital audio entertainment” in the form of “material which a truly free society
would neither fear nor suppress.”

The Who: Live at Leeds 4 CD Box Set

LEGENDARY LIVE ALBUM TO BE REISSUED IN A 4 CD BOX SET

Live at Leeds

To mark the 40th anniversary of the 1970 release of The Who‘s Live at Leeds, Geffen/Universal will release a “Super Deluxe” 4 CD
box set on November 16. Having been reissued and expanded from the original six tracks twice before (in 1995 and
2001), the new set will include the complete 150 minute version of the February 14 Leeds University concert, as well
as a double CD of the recording from the February 15 Hull City Hall concert.

The Hull City Hall concert, considered by the band themselves to be the superior performance, was originally
intended as the live album but was later shelved due to “technical difficulties” in the recording. Both concerts
contain a complete performance of Tommy.

The Super Deluxe 4 CD box set also includes a reproduction of the original vinyl album in heavyweight vinyl, a 64-
page hardcover book with pics, memorabilia and recording notes from the shows, a seven-inch 45 single of
“Summertime Blues” b/w “Heaven and Hell” in a color sleeve and a Pete Townshend poster. (via Direct Current)

Burn Your Media Files on CD with a MAC – Part 1 : Audio CDs Posted By : valjoma

“Does anyone know the way to easily copy my audio CD on a MAC?” In fact that can be done with each MAC. So as to maintain the iTunes store as the number one commercial download shop for music, Apple has to play nice with the music industry. So they didn’t integrate a straightforward way to replicate Audio CDs in iTunes ( which would’ve been simple ).

HBR’s Aaron Redner’s Solo CD Release Show

A BOFFO ASSEMBLAGE OF BAY AREA TALENT THIS THURSDAY

Aaron Redner

Aaron Redner (Hot Buttered Rum) will be throwing a CD release bash for his new solo project City by the Bay at The Connecticut Yankee in San Francisco on Thursday, September 16, starting at 9 pm.

“I’m so excited to play the songs from City by the Bay live,” says Redner, “and can’t think of a better place than my favorite neighborhood tavern!”

Other musicians expected to perform include:

Dave Brogan (ALO, Newfangled Wasteland)
Chris Haugen (Jambay, Newfangled Wasteland)
Kate Gaffney
Nat Keefe (HBR)
Erik Yates (HBR)
Bryan Horne (HBR)
And other special guests!

City by the Bay is the happy product of a three-month break from the road after seven years of hard touring in Hot Buttered Rum. It showcases multiple facets of this multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, and will likely tickle the fancy of Redner’s HBR fans but also open up his lyrical, appealing work to a larger audience.

And this week folks in the Bay Area have a chance to see the songs come to life onstage. Tickets are $7 at the door and The Connecticut Yankee is located at 100 Connecticut St. in San Francisco.

Rory Gallagher: New DVD & CD Releases

OUT SEPTEMBER 14 ON EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT

Irish guitar virtuoso Rory Gallagher ignited a legacy that many rock and blues musicians worship and
emulate to this day. On September 14, Eagle Rock Entertainment will issue two releases paying tribune to this rock
icon – Ghost Blues 2DVD set and The Beat Club Sessions CD.

threads together live footage, archive interviews with Rory, and contributions from his many friends and admirers,
including his brother Donal, Bob Geldof, The Edge (U2), Cameron Crowe, Slash, Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Bill
Wyman (The Rolling Stones)
, and his former band members Ted McKenna and Gerry
McAvoy
, as well as many others.

The video footage is captured on disc 2 of the DVD package and via select audio on the CD release.
