Jimmy Herring Tour Dates

TOUR KICKS OFF THIS WEDNESDAY IN NORFOLK, CT

Jimmy Herring

Jimmy Herring is hittting
the road with his current line-up, featuring Herring on guitar, drummer Jeff Sipe (Aquarium Rescue Unit,
Jazz is Dead, Shawn Lane), keyboardist Matt Slocum (Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks), and Neal
Fountain
on bass (Col Bruce Hampton, Alex Machacek). Tour dates are below.

The Jimmy Herring Band will be performing a wide range of material, including compositions from Herring’s long-
awaited and much-acclaimed 2008 solo debut Lifeboat.

“The music for the upcoming tour will be a mixed bag. Some stuff from the album and some covers I have always
wanted to play- Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Frank Zappa among others. Hopefully there will be
enough freedom for everyone to relax and have equal creative input. One thing I learned from Bruce Hampton is,
the simpler the music, the easier it is to reinterpret it each time you play it.”

Herring, who toured this summer with drummer Lenny White (Miles Davis, Return To Forever) will be one
of the
headliners at the New Universe Music Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 20-21 as well as performing
there with The Lenny White Group and paying a tribute to guitar icon John McLaughlin with
whom he co-bills the

Styx: Regeneration, Volume I Grand Illusion/Pieces of 8 Shows

BAND WILL PERFORM THE GRAND ILLUSION AND PIECES OF EIGHT IN THEIR
ENTIRETY

Styx

It’s the tour Styx fans have
been waiting for. Styx–Tommy Shaw (vocals, guitars), James “JY” Young (vocals, guitars), Lawrence Gowan

and Ricky Phillips (bass), along with the occasional

typical Styx show. Along with the classic hits, the band will be performing 1977′s The Grand Illusion and

standards as “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man” and “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man).”

And as icing on the cake, a seven-song EP, entitled Regeneration, Volume 1, containing six newly
re-recorded classics–”Come Sail Away,” “Crystal Ball,” “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man),” “Lorelei,” “The
Grand Illusion” and “Sing For The Day”—and a brand new track, “Difference In The World,” will be available for sale

No, Cynthia, all Jettas will be the same length…

It looks a bit like Volkswagen’s redesigned, US focused, Mexican built Jetta, recently launched in some style in the Big Apple, is getting confused in some media minds with the upcoming, larger car - designed specifically for, and to be sold only in North America – that the automaker will soon start building in its brand new Chattanooga (choo-choo!), Tennessee plant.

Yesterday, Bloomberg News reported that the US version of the Jetta would be longer than the versions sold in Europe and elsewhere; today VW’s German press operation set the record straight in a press release covering the US media launch event: “The new model is 182.7 inches long in the US version and 4.64 metres long in the European version, 57.1 inches (1.45 metres) tall and 70.1 inches (1.78 metres) wide. This makes the Volkswagen 3.54 inches (9 centimetres) longer than the previous model.” Do the math (multiply inches by 2.54 to get centimetres) and 182.7 inches is 464cm or 4.64m. Sorted. Same length all markets.

Last month a VW Germany spokesman let slip a few details of the planned medium sized car to be made in Tennessee: ”The new sedan will be larger than the Jetta, which is 465cm [long] with the mid-size [new car] at 490cm – that is really a class gap. It is vehicle built for the North American region.”

Dead Confederate: Free Download Preview of New Album, Tour

A JAMBASE FAVE RETURNS WITH NEW ALBUM IN AUGUST

Dead Confederate will return with their sophomore album, Sugar, on August 24th via TAO Recordings/Old Flame. Sugar was recorded by John Agnello (The Hold Steady, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) and as Dead Confederate’s Hardy Morris (guitar/lead vocals) explains, “We’re a loud, big-sounding band, and wanted the album to be fun and creative – instead of just recording the songs. It’s not like we decided we couldn’t have anything grungy or heavy; that’s just not all that we’re interested in. You can listen to the record a bunch of different ways. What we were doing felt right.”

In support of Sugar‘s release, Dead Confederate will be hitting the road, including dates with Deer Tick and a Bumbershoot after party with Surfer Blood.
More fall dates to be announced very soon.

Pnuma Trio: Spring Tour 2010

Pnuma Trio Spring Tour 2010

The Pnuma Trio is hitting the road hard this Spring starting in mid March. The band has played only a few times since its massive sold out New Years Eve show in Minneapolis, MN and is excited to get back into the swing of things. The tour kicks off with a week long Florida run and goes strong for five weeks traversing the Southeast, South, and Midwest until a big 4/20 homecoming in Denver. The tour has excellent support acts every night so make sure you come out early to catch the heat. The bulk of the tour will have either Big Gigantic or Break Science ft Adam Deitch opening every night. Other support artists include The Floozies, Prep School, Messy Jiverson, Somasphere and more.

King Khan & The Shrines: U.S. Tour

KING KHAN AND THE SHRINES ANNOUNCE COMEBACK TOUR

King Khan

King Khan might rightfully be accused of attempting to earn the title of hardest working performer in show business. Following a year that saw the release of three albums and several tours of the U.S., Europe, and beyond with multiple musical outlets, Khan is bringing the celebrated psychedelic soul big band explosion King Khan & The Shrines back to North America.

The three week run of dates, which start in Atlanta and culminate at Coachella on April 18, mark their first jaunt in the States since last year’s tour in support of the domestic release of the band’s classic What Is?! album on Vice Records.

Those who have seen the band know what to expect, but to the uninitiated: be ready for a sweat soaked stage being rocked into a psychedelic oblivion as a sonic pastiche of horns, drums, bass, guitar, and organ weave a gritty soul canvas for Khan to splatter with his infectious persona.

Emancipator: Tour Dates/Album

EMANCIPATOR TO RELEASE SAFE IN THE STEEP CLIFFS 1/19, WILL TOUR IN SUPPORT

Emancipator

Safe In The Steep Cliffs, due out January 19, is the new set of finely-crafted, epic instrumentals from Portland-based electronica/hip hop/downtempo producer Emancipator, and features tight, syncopated percussion, organic melodies and eclectic samples.

The subtle beatmaster eludes genre classification but will appeal to admirers of DJ Shadow, Bonobo, and Pretty Lights.

Emancipator played his first live show in July 2009, opening for Bonobo at the Roseland Theater. Since then, he’s toured with Bassnectar, drawn crowds at festivals like Trinumeral and Symbiosis, and closed out Sound Tribe Sector 9‘s late night parties in Denver at the request of the band.

Those in the know have been following Emancipator since he self-released his first album, Soon It Will Be Cold Enough, at the age of 19 in 2006. His agile melodies layered over headnodic, immaculately-produced beats captivated fans across the internet and across the world. Soon It Will Be Cold Enough was picked up by Japanese super-producer Nujabes, pressed in Japan and sold 5,000 copies in the first six months. Emancipator then landed a Puma sponsorship, gave an interview to Rolling Stone Japan, discovered one of his songs was played at the Beijing Olympics (still trying to figure out how that happened) and his song “Shook,” a mash up that perfectly mixes Mobb Deep‘s mighty raps with a haunting track from the Icelandic band Sigur Ros, became the highest-rated song on Hype Machine‘s Best 50 Songs of 2007, and appeared on Hype Machine as the #2 most popular song in April 2009.

The new album blends new instrumentation and organic samples with the signature Emancipator style of clean production, silky melodies and addictive drums. Dense layers of choirs, horns, American folk instruments such as the banjo and mandolin, violin and some distinct Asian influences make for a playful but refined album built out of intricate tracks listeners can enjoy on as many levels as they want. Dance to it, chill out to it, immerse your mind in it.

Downloading Safe In The Steep Cliffs beginning January 19 here.
