Singapore Exchange (SGXL.SI), Asia’s second-largest listed bourse operator, said on Monday that Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) CEO Chew Choon Seng will become its chairman from Jan 1, replacing J.Y. Pillay who is retiring.
SIA, Singapore’s flag carrier, said last week that Chew will retire at the end of this year. Chew, 63, has been on SGX’s board since December 2004.

Singapore Airlines names Goh as chief executive, replacing Chew

Singapore Airlines, the world’s second-largest carrier by market value, named Goh Choon Phong as chief executive officer, replacing Chew Choon Seng, who retires when his contract expires at the end of the year.
Goh, 47, will take charge on Jan. 1, according to a statement the airline sent to the Singapore stock exchange today. Goh, currently executive vice president for marketing and regions as well as chairman of the SilkAir regional unit, will join the airline’s board Oct. 1.

Singapore Airlines, the world’s second-largest carrier by market value, said it is considering “several” candidates to become chief executive officer as Chew Choon Seng signaled that he will step down.
“It’s at the mercy of the board, but I am getting on in years,” Chew, who turns 64 today, said after a shareholders meeting in Singapore. “I should move on.”

Singapore Airlines, the world’s second-largest airline by market value, said it’s considering several candidates for chief executive officer as incumbent Chew Choon Seng nears the end of his contract.
“The board has been engaged in the process of looking for a successor and we are on schedule,” Chairman Stephen Lee said in Singapore today. The company has looked at “several” candidates, both within and outside the company, Lee said.
