Kid Congo Powers: New Album & East Coast Dates

SPRING RELEASE FOR GORILLA ROSE; TOUR STARTS FEB. 11

The legendary Kid Congo
Powers, co-founder of the Gun Club, guitarist for The Cramps and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, will be
releasing his new album with his group Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds this spring. Titled
Gorilla Rose, the album follows in the footsteps of the band’s 2009 Dracula Boots with
more ram-charged boogaloo, sleazy psychedelia and Chicano garage rock.

In The Red records is gearing up for
the new album by releasing a series of oddball limited edition vinyl-only records by the band. The first of these
releases dropped this week in the form of the “Five Greasy Pieces” subscription series. This is a very limited edition
(250 of each) series of five different singles each containing two brand new tracks. Starting in January In The Red
will be issuing one of these a month. The fifth and final single in the series will come with a handsome box in which
all five will be housed. The only way to obtain these singles is to buy a subscription on the In The Red website. In
March In The Red will be issuing a live LP by the band titled Live At The Prom which will be
another vinyl-only limited edition release available exclusively online.

Galactic is loading up on
special guests to join the band as they barrel through the country on a wild and rocking Winter Tour 2010. Galactic
will spread the New Orleans flavor, throwing down the Mardi Gras spirit starting in Asheville on February 9 before
hitting Nashville on the 10th and ATL on February 12.

Lead singer Corey Glover (of Living
Colour) will join the band on the road for the first time, bringing his amazing vocals and energy for the first
starting with Jamcruise and including Chicago on February 18. Cyril Neville (of the Neville Brothers) will join for select dates
and Corey Henry (of Rebirth Brass
Band) will be on board throughout bringing his real deal NOLA brass trombone sound to the party.

Over The Rhine

The Long Surrender is the new studio album from the southern Ohio-based husband-and-wife
team of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Linford Detweiler and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Karin
Bergquist, otherwise known as Over the Rhine. The fan-funded record, to be released January 11, 2011 on OtR’s own
Great Speckled Dog label (named for the couple’s Great Dane, Elroy), marks 20 years since their 1991 debut. It’s the
result of a collaboration between the couple and Joe Henry, whose songs they’ve long admired.

Over the Rhine will preview The Long Surrender over a series of fall tour dates, the centerpiece of which is
Â“Over the Rhine Across the WestÂ” , a five-day music festival held November 5-10 aboard railroad cars from Los
Angeles to Santa Fe, across the Mohave Desert, tracing the lines of Route 66, Â“the Mother Road,Â” and then by
chartered motor-coach to the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest, Winslow, AZ and the Grand Canyon, before re-
boarding for the return trip. Also featured are Lucy Wainwright Roche, Mickey Grimm and
Swan
Dive, as well as
photographer Michael Wilson and naturalist Lynn Neal.

BAND READIES FALL HEADLINING TOUR DATES

Xemu Records has announced the signing of Spindrift. Spindrift has included members of Psychic TV, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Warlocks, as well as guitarist and
vocalist Kirpatrick Thomas filling in on guitar for Dead Meadow on one tour. The band has become a critical darling and indie rock attraction
due to their style of Americana music combining psychedelic rock with elements of spaghetti western soundtracks a
la Leone and Morricone.

The band will be embarking on a Fall tour starting the end of this month into December (dates below) and an album

Ben Folds: New Album & Tour

THIRTEEN DATE TOUR STARTS NOVEMBER 5 IN CHICAGO

Ben Folds is set to tour the
U.S. throughout November in support of Lonely Avenue, a collaboration between him and
bestselling English novelist Nick Hornby, due September 28 on Nonesuch Records. Folds’ 13 tour dates
feature performances at a number of beloved venues including Chicago’s Riviera and Atlanta’s Tabernacle. The tour
concludes with a Thanksgiving weekend homecoming performance at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center
to benefit the Nashville Symphony.

Furthur: November Tour

MIDWEST AND EAST COAST DEAD HEADS GET A DOSE

Furthur

A much-anticipated Midwest for Furthur has been announced, with dates in Minneapolis (11/8), Ames, IA (11/9), and St. Louis (11/11), followed by two nights in Chicago (11/12-11/13). The tour-opening show is at the very same venue that the Grateful Dead played on 10/19/71, the night they debuted the new version of the band featuring Keith Godchaux on piano in his first appearance with the Grateful Dead. The tour then moves on to Cincinnati (11/14) and then a couple of places Furthur hasn’t yet hit: Reading, PA (11/16) and Baltimore, MD (11/17) at the 1st Mariner Arena, which was previously known as the Baltimore Civic Center, site of six Grateful Dead shows. Most famous amongst those would be 9/17/72, featuring a nearly 40 minute “Other One” and 4/19/82, at which Phil Lesh recited Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” during “Space.” The tour ends in very familiar Dead Head terrain: one show at the Worcester Centrum (now DCU Center) (11/19) followed by two nights at Madison Square Garden (11/20-11/21).

As I Lay Dying: Fall Tour Dates

TOUR STARTS SEPTEMBER 14 IN EL PASO, TEXAS

GrammyÂ®-nominated metal group As I Lay Dying has just announced a new set of fall tour dates in North America and Europe. In support of their latest release The Powerless Rise, the band will kick off the run September 14 in El Paso, TX with support from All That Remains, Unearth, and Carnifex. The tour will take the band down south, through the northeast, before making its way west through Canada, wrapping up October 11 in Chico, CA.

John Mellencamp and his band are set to embark on the first leg of the “No Better Than This” Tour in late October following the August 17 release of his Rounder Records debut album, No Better Than This.

The tour, anticipated to continue through the spring of 2011, will kick off on October 29th in Bloomington, IN, where Mellencamp and his family make their home. It continues for four weeks bringing Mellencamp, his band and music to audiences in Nashville, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh and three additional Indiana markets of South Bend, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis with further tour dates pending.
