Two Charged with Defrauding Cisco of $27M

A federal grand jury indicts two men on charges of tricking Cisco Systems into accepting counterfeit networking equipment in exchange for legitimate merchandise under the guise of a warranty. – Two men have been indicted on federal charges of defrauding Cisco Systems of

Cisco: Internet Traffic to Quadruple by 2014

In its annual Visual Networking Index, Cisco Systems said Internet traffic worldwide will quadruple by 2014, driven by the rapid growth in video traffic generated by both consumers and businesses. Video will constitute more than 91 percent of all consumer IP traffic, and this year will overtake peer-to-peer traffic as the top traffic generator. – Cisco Systems is predicting that global Internet traffic will more than quadruple by 2014, driven in large part by increases in video traffic and by people using the Web to communicate online.

Cisco continued its strong performance in the switch and router space in the first quarter, seeing its revenue jump 33 percent during the same period in 2009, according to Infonetics. The report came a day after IDC noted that Cisco grew its dominating market share in Ethernet switches and routers. – Cisco Systems continues to demonstrate its dominance in the networking

Cisco Systems will buy CoreOptics for about $99 million in a deal that should push forward the company’s optical networking business at a time when service providers are looking for ways to handle the rapid growth of Internet traffic brought on by video, mobile devices and cloud computing.
