Singapore Press rose 2.5% to $3.75 as of 10:35 a.m. local time, heading for its highest closing level since Dec. 8. The stock has advanced 2.2% so far this year, compared with a 0.5% gain for the benchmark Straits Times Index.

Cosco Singapore climbs most in 5 months on ship delivery

Cosco Corp. Singapore, the shipbuilding unit of China’s largest shipping company, gained the most in five months in Singapore trading after it delivered a new vessel.

The China-based shipbuilder that also operates bulk carriers added 6.1% to $1.21 at 2:48 p.m. in Singapore, the most since July 28. The company said its Zhoushan shipyard delivered a bulk carrier to a unit of China Cosco Holdings Co., according to a Singapore stock exchange statement yesterday.

STI climbs 0.6% to close at 2,841.56

Singapore’s Straits Times Index climbed 0.6% to 2,841.56 at the close of trading in Singapore, rounding off its first back-to-back gains in two weeks. Seven stocks rose for every two that fell among the 30 companies making up the index.

Boustead Singapore (BOCS SP), an engineering company, advanced 1.3% to 76 cents, the highest since Oct 21. Its subsidiary won a contract valued at $107 million to design and build a manufacturing and support Facility, Boustead said.

STI climbs 0.5% to 2,838.15 at the break

Singapore’s Straits Times Index climbed 0.5% to 2,838.15 at the 12:30 p.m. break in Singapore, poised for its first back-to-back gains in two weeks. Almost two stocks climbed for each that fell among the 30 that make up the measure.

CNA Group (CNA SP), a provider of information technology and other related services, added 1.5% to 34 cents after saying it won $18 million of new contracts in Vietnam.

CapitaLand (CAPL SP), Southeast Asia’s biggest developer by sales, climbed 0.7% to $4.18, set for its first back-to-back gains in two weeks. CapitaLand said it agreed to sell its entire 50% stake in Chengdu CapitaLand Zhixin Wenjiang Co. for 172.3 million yuan ($35.5 million).
