Karnivool: North American Tour

FALL TOUR KICKS OFF AUGUST 6 IN VANCOUVER

Australia’s Karnivool are
currently wrapping up their sold out “New Day Tour” in Australia and are thrilled to announce that they’ll be
returning stateside next month for the North American leg. Named after the eight-minute epic from their recently
released full-length Sound Awake, the “New Day Tour” will commence August 6 in Vancouver
before looping the U.S. and ending in Los Angeles on September 13. Tampa’s Tides of Man will open for most of
the dates.

“It’s time for a good ol’ North American road trip again,” attests guitarist Drew Goddard. “Look for a big white van
full of weird Aussies with bad hair and guitars pulling up at a town near you.”

Karnivool’s thunderous anthem “Set Fire To The Hive” from Sound Awake is currently at radio. Check out the video

Ozomatli: Album & Tour Dates

Upcoming Ozomatli Album and Tour Dates

Ozomatli

Los Angeles culture-mashers Ozomatli are set to release their new album, Fire Away April 20 on Mercer Street Records / Downtown Records.

Fire Away is the Grammy Award-winning band’s fifth studio full-length, and first for the NYC based Mercer Street Records / Downtown Records. Produced by acclaimed producer Tony Berg (Aimee Mann, Pete Yorn), Fire Away features eleven new Ozo songs.

Ozomatli’s music is a collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East LA R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga.

2009 proved to be a busy year for Ozomatli, serving as U.S. cultural ambassadors with a U.S. sponsored State Department trip that included Ozomatli community outreach and performances in Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand. The band was also honored to play for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 32nd Annual Award Gala, held in Washington DC in September.

2010 looks to continue Ozomatli’s feverish pace. In addition to hitting the road in support of Fire Away, in February Ozomatli will be performing at the TED Conference and two shows in Hawaii. March brings two shows at the SXSW Festival in Austin, collaborating with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra as well as the Boston Pops Orchestra for the 125th Pops Anniversary Celebration in early May, and once again serving as U.S. Cultural Ambassadors with a State Department trip to China and Mongolia.

State Radio

Rock-trio and social activists State Radio released their third studio album, Let It Go this week and are celebrating with a new North American tour, including a stop at the Austin City Limits Festival on October 4 and two weeks supporting 311. The band also released a special digital deluxe version of Let It Go on iTunes this week. For a limited time, fans can purchase the new album plus a double disc Live at The Brattle Theater, a total of 41 tracks for $14.99. Live At The Brattle Theatre not only features live, acoustic State Radio songs and rarities, but also three Dispatch tracks, including “The General.”

The band has also confirmed pre-show community service projects via their humanitarian organization, Calling All Crows, for 18 of the 35 tour markets this run so far. Like Rage Against The Machine and System Of A Down before them, State Radio roll up their sleeves as they practice what they preach, whether it’s riding bikes to gigs to support Bikes Not Bombs, hosting food drives in conjunction with Rock For A Remedy, adopting portions of beaches to ensure they are cleaned regularly, or playing shows to raise money for the Learning Center for the Deaf. On this slew of dates, the band and Calling All Crows will team up with local non-profit groups and participate in service like habitat restoration, sustainability tours and teach-ins. Brother Ali Tour, MP3 &:Album w/ Chuck D & Ant

Brother Ali Announces New Album And North American Tour

Brother Ali

Brother Ali‘s last album, the critically acclaimed, The Undisputed Truth, was an album of bold statements and social awareness without being preachy. Ali’s new album, Us, Street Date September 22, has turned his gaze inward and starts to examine the human condition from the outside in. A profound, personal glimpse into a vulnerability seldom seen or heard in music, Us touches on the strengths and flaws of the human condition, exploring drug abuse, divorce, homophobia and many more topics that most people are scared to touch in their own lives, much less on an album for the world to see.

As with previous endeavors, the beats here are courtesy of Ant (of Atmosphere), whose production work seems to be getting more soulful and lush by the minute. The guest appearances only accentuate Brother Ali’s strengths, with Chuck D, Freeway, Joell Ortiz and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition making strong appearances.

In support of the new album, Ali is embarking on a North American tour of epic proportions, enlisting the help of labelmates and collaborators Evidence (of Dilated Peoples), BK One and Toki Wright.

Peep the video for the fist single “Us,” it’s pretty dope. And you can download “Us” for free here:
