How Twitter Is Pollinating Commerce, Media and Gangs
Twitter is a social medium that wears its tweets on its sleeve, publicly for all to see. This weekend, a perfect storm of events bubbled up to underscore what these are such heady times for our favorite microblogging service.
Twitter took center stage for Black Friday shopping deals, helped break the news that Tiger Woods slammed his SUV into a fire hydrant and tree, and apparently serves as a nice communications vector for gangs in New York City. This real-time power is the reason Google and Facebook were so interested in Twitter and why Twitter’s founders would be foolish to sell. There’s a business model in all of this info. They just need to flesh it out and they’ll be golden.

The US economy shrank at an annualised rate of 1% in the April-to-June quarter, government figures have shown.
The data was better-than-expected, with many economists predicting a slightly bigger contraction of 1.5%.
The pace of decline seems to be easing, after a revised 6.4% fall in GDP in the previous quarter, the Commerce Department said.
On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve’s influential Beige Book said US economic activity had "begun to stabilise".
Although, the second-quarter data was better than forecast, the Commerce Department said that the economy had shrunk by more than initially thought in the first quarter.
It has previously estimated a contraction of 5.5%. </p
