Broken Bells: First Tour Ever

BROKEN BELLS ANNOUNCE FIRST EVER TOUR

James Mercer and Danger Mouse Hit The Road Beginning May 18 in San Diego

Debut Album Moves Nearly 50K First Week, Peaks at #1 on iTunes Album Chart

Broken Bells

In the wake of their new band’s self titled Columbia Records debut charting at #7 and selling just shy of 50,000 in its first week (and reaching as high as #1 on iTunes), James Mercer and Brian Burton aka Danger Mouse have confirmed Broken Bells‘ first ever tour. The dates commence May 18 in San Diego and will include stops in 16 North American cities.

In addition to being the year’s highest charting debut album by an alternative/rock band, Broken Bells has met with an insanely and unanimously positive critical reception: Rolling Stone has hailed the album as “the year’s coolest left field pop disc” in a 4-star lead review, while Wired described it as “crazy good stuff” and Entertainment Weekly praised it as a “subtly savory sonic morsel.”

The mere handful of shows the band has played to date have fared likewise, selling out as quickly as tickets could be processed, and dazzling crowds in Los Angeles, New York, and most recently Austin.

Broken Bells features Mercer on vocals, guitars and bass while Burton plays organ, drums, piano, synths and bass. The pair play all instruments on the album with the exception of a full string section arranged by Daniele Luppi. Broken Bells was recorded by Todd Monfalcone and Kennie Takahashi at Mondo Studio in Los Angeles and produced by Danger Mouse.

Each a long-time fan of the other’s work, Burton and Mercer first met face-to-face backstage at the 2004 Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen. The pair immediately hit it off and kept in touch over the prevailing half decade and in May 2008 seized the opportunity to finally collaborate on original music together. Broken Bells was pared down from more than 20 pieces of new music written and recorded to the 10 songs that coalesced together the most seamlessly.

Mercer and Burton will continue to work as a band in the future.

Mayer Hawthrone: Tour Dates

MAYER HAWTHORNE AND THE COUNTRY ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES

Mayer Hawthorne

The Motor City crooner of soul, Mayer Hawthorne, is taking his band The Country with him across North America for a month-long tour starting on March 4 in New York City.

The multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer will be making much-anticipated stops along the way to play three days at Austin’s SXSW Festival, and will end the tour on April 18 with a Sunday night serenade at Coachella.

Many became familiar with Mayer’s R&B soul style in 2009 with the release of his debut album, A Strange Arrangement on Stone’s Throw Records, which received the approval of critics from the likes of Rolling Stone, Billboard, The New York Times, NPR, O Magazine, Pitchfork and Alarm, among others.

Supporting Mayer for the first leg of his tour is Nikki Jean, the songwriter and pianist for Nouveau Riche. The second leg of the tour will include Mayer opening for the popular electro-pop band Passion Pit.

Yeasayer: 2010 Tour Dates

YEASAYER TO TOUR IN SUPPORT OF ODD BLOOD

Yeasayer

Yeasayer is pleased to announce a full U.S. tour beginning in April to support their fantastic upcoming full-length, Odd Blood. This follows three U.S. dates in February – a performance at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles and two already sold old shows in New York City, at Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg.

Odd Blood will be available February 9 via Secretly Canadian (Mute elsewhere). First brewed in the frosty hills of Woodstock, NY at the Marotta lair, then transferred to the steely sweeps of NYC, Odd Blood took many layers to finalize, but with all things Yeasayer the outcome is spectacular. Filled with the band’s own take on pop pleasures and experimentation, the band has once again carved its own path through that ice cold glacier that is modern pop/rock.

Editors: Tour Dates/New Album

EDITORS ANNOUNCE U.S. TOUR, IN THIS LIGHT AND ON THIS EVENING OUT 01/19

Editors

After two years away, Editors are returning to the U.S. for a
long-awaited headlining North American tour this February in support of
their highly anticipated new album In This Light And On This Evening. The
album, which is out stateside via FADER January 19, 2010, debuted at number one
on the U.K. charts this past October, and charted in the Top 10 throughout the rest of Europe.

Produced by Grammy award winner Mark “Flood” Ellis (U2, Sigur Ros, PJ Harvey) In This Light And On This Evening finds Editors heading in a new direction; where synths replace the soaring guitars and lead singer Tom Smith takes his vocals to haunting new places, giving the album a dystopian, apocalyptic, mechanical ambience.

All tickets will go on sale December 12.
