EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele stated in Brussels on Thursday that he will confer with Serbian officials in Belgrade.
He said they would discuss the steps that should follow the European Commission’s green light to the opinion on Serbia’s membership bid, and expressed hope that a consensus on Serbia’s EU candidacy will be reached by the next meeting of the Council of the European Union in October.

The EU will select a president and foreign policy chief from among some 20 candidates at a special summit later this week, a EU official said on Tuesday. An official in the Council of the European Union said the candidatures of some two dozen politicians are being discussed.
