Croatia responds to Serbia’s counter-suit

Croatia has filed a written response to Serbia’s counter-suit to Croatia’s lawsuit for alleged aggression and genocide to the International Court of Justice.

“Croatia’s brief was presented to ICJ in complete media silence on December 20, the last day of the deadline set by the court,” Director of the Veritas Documentation Center Savo Å trbac said.

Rimini Street Countersuit Claims Oracle Waging Anti-competitive Campaign

The CEO of third-party application support provider Rimini Street is confident that it won’t take the route of former competitor TomorrowNow in defending a lawsuit filed by Oracle claiming massive theft of proprietary software support documents. Rimini Street has filed a countersuit against Oracle, claiming Oracle is using illegal anti-competitive tactics to stifle its business.

Bandić calls countersuit “provocation”

Croatian presidential candidate Milan Bandić said that Serbia and Croatia could remain friendly and that the lawsuits between them will not alter relations. “The Croatian genocide lawsuit against Serbia was filed over ten years ago. We had to do that because of the thousands of victims and the damages worth millions…I am not saying that there were not crimes committed on both sides, but Croatia was the victim of aggression,” Bandić told Belgrade daily Večernje novosti.

Refugees welcome genocide countersuit

The Coalition of Refugee Associations in Serbia say they support Serbia’s genocide lawsuit against Croatia. With the court process, they say, the truth about the events during of the 1990s will finally be revealed.

Serbia files genocide lawsuit against Croatia

Serbia has filed its genocide countersuit against Croatia on Monday before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The suit was submitted by Serbia’s legal representative Saša Obradović.

Analyst: Genocide suits “political”

Croat Political Analyst Žarko Puhovski said that it is unlikely that Croatia will pull its genocide lawsuit now that Serbia has decided to file its countersuit. “These are obviously political lawsuits and there is no doubt among experts that there is almost no chance that either side will win their cases. It has only to do with internal needs to prolong the era of pressure on the other side,” Puhovski told Belgrade daily Danas.

Expert: Countersuit decision “logical”

International law expert Tibor Varadi has said that the Serbian government’s decision to counter-sue Croatia was a “logical move”. On Dec. 31, the government announced it would be suing Croatia for genocide against the ethnic Serb population during the 1991-95 conflict in Croatia before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Jeremić: Croatia countersuit ready

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić says that the genocide countersuit against Croatia has been prepared, but that he hopes the case would never proceed. Croatia sued Serbia for allegedly committing genocide in the 1990s to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague some ten years ago; now Belgrade says it is ready to countersuit with the same accusation related to the same period.

Apple Countersuit Claims Nokia Infringed on 13 Patents

Apple has filed a lawsuit against Nokia, saying the Finnish phone maker is infringing on 13 of its patents. Nokia originally filed its own patent-infringement lawsuits against Apple in October.
