A 30-year-old ethnic Albanian yesterday caused an incident in the Citizens’ Ombudsman office in the southern town of PreÅ¡evo. He physically assaulted two employees and destroyed office furniture and equipment, including two laptop computers, said reports.

Thieves attack police, three wounded
Three persons were injured today in a shootout in the southern town of Niš, reports said.
According to unofficial information, suspects involved in a robbery opened fire on a police patrol.
Ex-paramilitary sentenced to 20 years
A former member of a paramilitary unit has been found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in the murder of ethnic Albanians in 1999. Željko Äukić was a member of the Scorpions paramilitary unit that in late March 1999 killed 14 ethnic Albanian women and children in Podujevo, during the war in Kosovo.
“Intensive work on finding Mladić”
Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir VukÄević says the optimism that Hague indictee Ratko Mladić may soon be arrested is based on intensive work and effort. “Serbia’s goal is to arrest the Hague fugitives Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadžić,” he told the Belgrade-based daily VeÄernje Novosti.
Foster parent accused of rape
A local policeman was arrested in Knjaževac on Tuesday on suspicion that he raped a 14-year old girl who was in his foster care.
The man was identified by his initials as L.S., and has been placed in custody for 30 days. Local police said that he was suspended from work until further notice.
Indictment changed against Milošević widow
The High Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade has changed the indictment against Mirjana Marković. She is the the widow of former President of Serbia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Slobodan MiloÅ¡ević.
Guard leader threatened Pride parade, arrested
A self-styled commander of the Czar Lazar Guard was detained by the police for making threats against the Pride parade participants and the national leadership. The prosecution says that cases such as this one against the Guard leader Hadži Andrej Milić will be prosecuted and that the state needs to allow the Pride parade to go on as planned.
Court sentences journalist attackers
MiloÅ¡ Mladenović and Danilo Žuža have been sentenced to three months in prison for attacking journalist of Belgrade-based weekly Vreme Teofil PanÄić. Mladenović and Žuža were found guilty of violent behavior. They have been were released from custody, but are not allowed to leave their place of residence.
Šarić crime group trial begins
The trial of Darko Å arić’s organized crime group was opened on Tuesday before the Belgrade Special Court, after it was postponed yesterday. The court had previously rejected the proposals of the defense attorneys that the transcripts of intercepted telephone conversations between the group members, recorded in the period from May 22, 2008 to October 15, 2009, be removed from the evidence list.
Drug boss trial postponed
The crime group of suspected drug lord Darko Å arić was to go on trial today before Belgrade’s Special Court, today, but the trial was postponed for tomorrow. Only 11 of the 20 indicted members of the gang were set to appear before the judges, however. Å arić himself and six others are fugitives from justice and will be tried in absentia.
Extradition agreements in common interest
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica DaÄić stated on Saturday that it is in the common interest of all regional countries to sign extradition agreements. These would ensure extradition of the persons suspected of severe criminal acts and issuance of joint arrest warrants.
Kosovo weakest security link in Balkans
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica DaÄić stated in Skopje on Saturday that the territory of Kosovo is the weakest link in the Balkans’ security chain. At a joint news conference with his Macedonian colleague Gordana Jankuloska, DaÄić advocated closer police cooperation in order to prevent criminal activities in the region.
Security shoots robber dead
While attempting to rob a post office in the Belgrade suburb Bele vode, a young man was shoot dead this morning.
B92 has learned that two armed men attacked the security guards with tasers.
Fugitive tycoon indicted
The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade indicted Bogoljub Karić and another 15 persons suspected of defrauding Mobtel of more than EUR 60mn. Along with Bogoljub Karić, his brother Sreten Karić is one those indicted.
K. Albanians given fake residency status
Three policemen in MeroÅ¡ina near Prokuplje have been arrested after they allowed Kosovo Albanians to register fictitious residencies in that municipality. The ethnic Albanians from Kosovo – some 50 of them – sought to receive Serbian passports and recently obtained documents falsely attesting to their permanent residence in the town.
N. Pazar teenager stabbed to death
An 18-year-old high school student was stabbed and killed in Novi Pazar this morning. The victim was identified with his initials as N.O.
Anniversary of murder of French fan
Today marks a year since 28-year-old Frenchman Brice Taton was beaten to death in downtown Belgrade. At the Initiative of the Youth Coalition Against Violence a memorial plaque will be put up at the Obilićev Venac Street where Taton was beaten and it will be officially revealed by Belgrade Mayor Dragan Äilas.
Break-ins in four Serb returnee homes
Four Serb houses in the village of Ljevoša in Kosovo were broken into Wednesday night, which caused considerable concern among some 20 Serbs in the village.
Ranko Bakić, one of the Serb residents, told Tanjug the four houses belonged to MomÄilo AÅ¡anin, Obrad Marković and Slavica and Dragoljub Bakić.
Serbia seeks ex-tycoon’s extradition
Serbian and Spanish officials will discuss the arrest and extradition of former director of the Serbian supermarket chain C Market Slobodan Radulović. Radulović is believed to be hiding in Spain, and he will be on the agenda of the Thursday meeting between Serbian Justice Minister Snežana Malović and her Spanish counterpart Francisco Caamano Dominguez.
Ulemek’s plan thwarted in time
Detonating fuses had been found in Milorad Ulemek Legija’s cell before he was transferred to the Zabela Prison, Justice Minister Snežana Malović told B92. Information that there were detonation fuses in the cell of Ulemek, convicted for PM Zoran ÄinÄ‘ić’s murder, was obtained several months ago, B92 has learned.
