SATS rating cut to ‘Sell’ from ‘Buy’ by UOB on cost pressures

SATS was lowered to “sell” from “buy” at UOB-Kay Hian Holdings, which cited “looming” cost pressures from its S. Daniels Plc unit. The brokerage cut its share-price estimate to $2.47 from $3.19, according to a report by analysts K. Ajith and Eugene Ng.

Traders’ lunch is cut as Singapore seeks bigger role

Singapore Exchange, operator of the city’s derivatives and securities market, will scrap its midday trading break from March as it seeks to increase its regional role.

Australia, South Korea, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh already operate without a lunch interval. Singapore’s trading day now runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. local time, followed by a 90 minute break and an afternoon session between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Putin orders 5% cut in Russian govt. staff

Russia’s federal government will lose 5% of its staff this year as part of a three-year program of cuts, RIA Novosti reported. The Russian news agency quoted Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Serbia advised to cut red tape

Serbia must facilitate “bureaucratic procedures” and create an environment favorable for business activities in order to attract foreign investments. This is according to Secretary-General of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) within the UN Antonio Penalosa, who spoke for B92 in Belgrade on Tuesday.

Wilmar target cut 16% at Nomura on real-estate focus

Wilmar International, the world’s largest palm-oil trader, had its share-price target cut 16% at Nomura Holdings Inc. on concern it will make property investments a “long-term focus.”

The stock rating was lowered to “neutral” from “buy” by analysts Tanuj Shori and Tushar Mohata in a Jan. 7 client note, which said Singapore-based Wilmar will likely go into China’s second- and third-tier cities, having entered the nation’s property market in December. The target was cut to $6.40 from $7.60, also citing a risk that Wilmar may miss the fourth- quarter earnings estimates of analysts.

Phones still cut off in Serb enclave

Tuesday marked 100 days since the Kosovo Albanian authorities cut off telephone lines to a number of Serb communities south of the Ibar River. A performance was staged in front of the ambulance station in the village of Laplje Selo, central Kosovo, to mark the occasion of 100 days since phone lines to the emergency service of the health-care center in Gračanica were severed, the health institution said.

“KFOR troop cut dangerous for holy sites”

A Serbian Orthodox Church dignitary says the reduction in the number of KFOR soldiers in Kosovo is “worrying and represents a very dangerous process”. “The cut in the number of KFOR soldiers, given the permanent political and security instability in Kosovo-Metohija, is a very dangerous process,” Archimandrite Sava Janjić stated at the SPC Dečani Monastery, adding that the KFOR reduction can cause a security vacuum in the province.

Wilmar target cut to $6.73 from $7.49 by Daiwa

Daiwa cuts Wilmar’s (F34.SG) target price to $6.73 from $7.49, based on a lower 14.4x FY11 P/E vs 16.2x FY11 P/E previously, to reflect its concerns over the agribusiness group’s venture into the real estate business.

“We believe investors will see this as a strategic divergence from its core (business), will raise concerns that the company is running out of investment opportunities in its core business, and have investors questioning why Wilmar is being used for this project.”

STX Pan Ocean cut to Sell from Neutral by Goldman

Goldman Sachs downgrades STX Pan Ocean (GZ9.SG, 028670.SE) to Sell from Neutral as the company is the most leveraged to weak bulk spot rates within the bulk shipping sector.

“Furthermore, we think there is execution risk on diversification from its core bulk shipping business, hampering earnings recovery. Aggressive expansion in fleet also heightens the risk of over-investment.”

Think Environmental cut by DMG; Keeps Sell

DMG cuts Think Environmental (A78.SG) target price to $0.135 from $0.350 and keeps the stock at Sell after the company announced it has entered into a MOA with Mornington Offshore for the proposed investment in the latter which owns 100% stake in a gold exploration company, Societe Emas Mali.

The house says details of the investment in Mornington “remain scanty,” but views the move into offshore gold mining negatively “due to its shift in focus away from the troubled environmental business, and the lack of experience in offshore gold mining in a new country.”

NOL cut to Hold from Buy by Phillip; Eyes $2.41

Phillip Securities downgrades Neptune Orient Lines (N03.SG) to Hold from Buy due to limited upside of 11.6% from current share price to fair value estimate of $2.41, which is raised from $2.36 due to higher estimates.

The house is now more optimistic on the outlook of container shipping industry, while “NOL has also ordered new container vessels, which shows it is confident about the future.”

CIMB downgrades Indofood Agri Resources (5JS.SG) to Neutral from Trading Buy on valuation grounds.

Goldman Sachs downgrades Wilmar (F34.SG) to Neutral from Buy, and cuts its target to $ 6.25 from $ 7.00 as it now values company against the Southeast Asian commodities sector instead of the plantations sector.
