Styx: Regeneration, Volume I Grand Illusion/Pieces of 8 Shows

BAND WILL PERFORM THE GRAND ILLUSION AND PIECES OF EIGHT IN THEIR
ENTIRETY

Styx

It’s the tour Styx fans have
been waiting for. Styx–Tommy Shaw (vocals, guitars), James “JY” Young (vocals, guitars), Lawrence Gowan

1978′s Pieces of Eight in their entirety. Both albums spawned such hit singles and Classic Rock radio
standards as “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man” and “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man).”

And as icing on the cake, a seven-song EP, entitled Regeneration, Volume 1, containing six newly
re-recorded classics–”Come Sail Away,” “Crystal Ball,” “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man),” “Lorelei,” “The
Grand Illusion” and “Sing For The Day”—and a brand new track, “Difference In The World,” will be available for sale

Schumpeter: A post-crisis case study

The new dean of Harvard Business School promises “radical innovation”

HENRY KISSINGER, who started his career in the killing fields of Harvard before moving to Washington, DC, is said to have quipped that academic politics are vicious precisely because the stakes are so small. Schumpeter has no idea whether the contest to succeed Jay Light as dean of the Harvard Business School (HBS) was vicious. But he is sure that the stakes were not small.

HBS is hugely influential. The school is a training ground for America’s business elite: a striking number of the top office holders of Fortune 500 companies, including the heads of General Electric and Boeing, sharpened their skills and elbows there. The school is also the apex of the vast global industry devoted to teaching business. It sits on an endowment of $2.1 billion and employs some terrific thinkers, including Michael Porter and Clayton Christensen. It developed the “case method”—using case studies to teach students about real-world business problems. It claims to be the source of four-fifths of the case-study materials used in the world’s leading business schools. …

Computer security : A swarm of many stripes

Hackers come buzzing in from expected, and entirely unexpected, places

WHICH countries have the cleverest hackers? In a well-guarded room near the Potomac river, north of Washington, DC—to which very few people have access (biometric scanners can prevent any unwanted human presence)—there is a laptop that is finding the answer. The little machine is a honey-trap which has detected more than 11m failed attempts to penetrate its defences since it was put in place in early June.

InZero, the web-security firm that set up the device, made it known through the shadowy world of hackers’ chat forums (a place so murky that you have to clean your computer well after going near it) that there was a document on the machine’s hard drive; and it challenged intruders to get hold of it. The results were revealing. Most would-be penetrators were polite in their self-presentation; their e-mails to the laptop had attachments which the reader was asked nicely to examine. Playing dumb, the recipients duly opened all those potentially deadly attachments, in the—so far correct—assumption that their defences would hold. …

Justin Townes Earle: New Album & Tour Dates

FOLLOW-UP TO 2009′S MIDNIGHT AT THE MOVIES OUT SEPTEMBER 14 VIA BLOODSHOT
RECORDS

Justin Townes Earle

Bloodshot Records is pleased to announce the impending release of Harlem River Blues, the third
full-length from
Justin Townes Earle. The
record, in stores September 14, is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2009′s Midnight at
the Movies
.

Compared to the much-lauded Midnight at the Movies, Harlem River Blues is more mature and
increasingly
nuanced, while still embracing the raw voice and clean sound of previous standout tracks like “Mama’s Eyes.”
Featuring guest appearances from Jason Isbell, Bryn Davies and Calexico’s Paul Niehaus, it’s rockin’ and reelin’ at
times, sweet and slow at others – and it’s great. Like good fried chicken, a well-cut suit and a hand made guitar,
there’s heaven to be found in the beautifully crafted simpler things.
