Institute workers stage protest in front of DS HQ

Workers of the Kragujevac Grain Institute are protesting in front of the Democratic Party (DS) headquarters in the city. They are calling for overdue wages to be paid.

“No essential changes to statute”

Provincial head of the ruling Democratic Party Dušan Elezović says there will be no essential changes of the proposed statute of Vojvodina.

SDP supports stripping Mugoša of immunity

Montenegrin Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Rifat Rastoder said that his SDP party will support stripping DPS official Miomir Mugoša of his immunity. “It is difficult to say right now because we need to see all the facts. If this is needed to get to the bottom of the case, of course we will support it,” Rastoder said. Rastoder is also the vice president of the ruling Socialist Democratic Party.

Belgrade municipality edging closer to new elections

There is still no coalition agreement for a majority in the Voždovac assembly, even though the constitutive meeting is scheduled for Monday. The Democratic Party (DS) has reached an agreement with its partners on the city level regarding a joint approach at Monday’s meeting, but there is still no solution for finding one more official, which they need in order to have a majority in the assembly.

Stray dogs attack DS MP

A pack of stray dogs attacked ruling Democratic Party (DS) MP Jelena Trivan on the parking lot in front of the parliament building. The incident took place at about 22:00 CET on Thursday.

No early elections, DS official adamant

Ruling Democratic Party (DS) Vice-President Dragan Å utanovac says there is no possibility that Serbia will have early elections, “especially not this year”. “I do not know in whose best interest it would be to have months of campaigning now, and then negotiate to form a government. I am sure that this would not be in the best interest of the citizens,” Å utanovac told Belgrade daily Večernje Novosti.

DS to small parties: Stop blackmailing

Democratic Party (DS) official Dragoljub Mićunović said that smaller parties in the government must stop “blackmailing” the rest of the ruling coalition. He said that regardless of whether the Public Information Law will be adopted, the government will not be toppled.

Koštunica: Elections needed to end agony

Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Koštunica called on the government to announce emergency parliamentary elections. He said that the government is “holding the entire nation as a hostage to the relations within the ruling coalition.”

Ljajić announces new party in fall

Rasim Ljajić has announced that his Sandžak Democratic Party (SDP) will form a new party with others “of similar orientation”. Ljajić, who is a minister in the current government, said that the founding congress of the new party could be scheduled for late October or early November.

“Govt. working well, harmoniously”

Ruling Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Dragan Å utanovac said on Monday that the government is working “well and in harmony”. The defense minister in the Cvetković cabinet also stated that “there are no inter-party tensions, despite public reports to that effect and the polemics on the relations within the government instead of its results”.
