The Serbian government has a plan to curb the rising inflation, and selling state-owned Telekom Srbija is part of it, says Diana Dragutinović. The finance minister also said that the double-digit inflation in the country – first in three years – is “the best that could have been achieved”.

Finance minister presents revision draft
The 2010 budget revision is the government wish to strike a balance between stimulating the economy and achieving social cohesion, says the finance minister. Presenting the budget revision at the Serbian parliament, Diana Dragutinović pointed out that it envisages a budget deficit of RSD 120bn, since expenditures add up to RSD 780bn, while revenues total RSD 660bn.
EIB in EUR 40mn loan for Belgrade bypass
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved a EUR 40mn loan for construction of the Belgrade bypass. The bank president, Philippe Maystadt, signed the loan in Belgrade on Monday with the Serbian government represented by Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinović and Zoran Drobnjak, general manager of the Roads of Serbia pubic company, the beneficiary.
Serbia, RS in finance sector agreement
Serbian and the Republic of Srpska (RS) today signed an agreement on cooperation in the area of finance. According to reports, the deal was inked by the two finance ministers, Serbia’s Diana Dragutinović and Aleksandar Džombić of RS, with the aim of “improving the existing cooperation”.
Serbia-Sweden agreement on cooperation
Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinović and Swedish Ambassador to Serbia Krister Bringeus on Tuesday signed an agreement on development cooperation. It covers the period until 2012, according to which the planned annual disbursement for Serbia amounts to EUR 12mn.
Finance minister on pension reform
The essence of the government reform of the pension system, supported by the IMF, is a reduction of the number of pensioners, Diana Dragutinović says. “The reform also includes increase of the lowest with the reduction of the highest pensions,†the finance minister told B92.
Next year’s budget “development-oriented”
Serbian Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinović on Wednesday in Belgrade presented the 2010 budget. The document was adopted by the government yesterday and will now be sent to parliament for approval.
Minister again addresses “missing billions”
A day after the media quoted her as saying that more than EUR 1.4bn is spent from the budget each year in an “unknown manner”, the finance minister spoke again. The money, close to RSD 130bn, is not missing from the budget, Diana Dragutinović told Belgrade daily Politika, “since it is never there in the first place”.
Finance minister doesn’t know where billions go
Diana Dragutinović says RSD 130bn (some EUR 1.4bn) of Serbia’s budget money are spent in an “unknown manner” each year. “The budget never showed how money from project loans, donations and EU development assistance funds is being spent. All in all, we likely don’t know how RSD 130bn is spent annually,” the finance minister was quoted as saying.
Finance chief confident of IMF agreement
Diana Dragutinović is confident the government will manage to reach an agreement with the IMF on increasing the 2009 budget deficit from 3 to 4.5 percent GDP. The finance minister said that the government would propose credible measures to cut the deficit.
