10 years since Đinđić cabinet forming

The tenth anniversary of the forming of the first democratic Serbian government after October 5 changes, which was headed by Zoran ĐinÄ‘ić, is marked today. ĐinÄ‘ić, who was at the helm of the Democratic Party (DS), at the time told MPs that, after the ousting of Slobodan MiloÅ¡ević and his regime, Serbia “has once again took its faith into its own hands,” and that his government “obtained a mandate for changes from the people on the streets of Serbia.”

“ĐinÄ‘ić cabinet planned Kosovo’s partition”

Former high-ranking member of the Democratic Party (DS) and former Serbian PM Zoran Živković says there were plans in the early 2000s to partition Kosovo. In an interview for Belgrade’s Vreme weekly, Živković said the first post-MiloÅ¡ević era government “would’ve fallen anyway, even if Zoran ĐinÄ‘ić had not been killed”.

Đinđić murder conspirator found wounded

Sretko Kalinić, one of the Zemun Clan gangsters guilty of the murder of Zoran Đinđić still at large, was found in suburban Zagreb, Croatia. Reports said that he was shot twice on Tuesday around noon, and according to Serbian police (MUP) Director Milorad Veljović, he is now in a Zagreb hospital, in a stable condition.

Serbia’s first democratic prime minister and reformer Zoran ĐinÄ‘ić marked Serbia’s path leading to the EU. He strongly believed that it was his generation that was given the task to reconcile the isolated and devastated Serbia with the rest of the world, both with the West and the East, Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković said on Friday.

Tribute paid at Đinđić grave

Family members and state officials paid their respects to late Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić laying wreaths and flowers at his grave in Belgrade. Đinđić’s widow Ružica and his son Luka arrived to the cemetery with President Boris Tadić, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković, Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić, and Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac.

“State gave ĐinÄ‘ić killer apartment”

The man who fired the bullet that killed Prime Minister Zoran ĐinÄ‘ić was three years prior to the assassination given an apartment by the state. From 1997 until 2007, 2,166 state-owned apartments were “given out”, one of them – a 60 sq meter two-bedroom place – to Zvezdan Jovanović.

B92 editor-in-chief, Đinđić widow get top French accolade

Ružica ĐinÄ‘ić, who heads the Dr. Zoran ĐinÄ‘ić Fund, and B92′s Editor-in-Chief Veran Matić are among the recipients of this year’s Legion of Honor. The explanation of the decision to award them the highest French order, presented by that country’s president, says that Matić is recognized in order to honor “the fight for the freedom of the media he has led at the helm of B92″.
