Minister wants state secretary punished

Economy Minister MlaÄ‘an Dinkić says he will ask the PM to “severely penalize” Finance Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Ilić.
Dinkić believes that this should come because of Ilić’s recent statements regarding Dinkić’s ministry’s decision to grant higher subsidies to Slovenia’s Gorenje company if it chose to build its plant in Zaječar, eastern Serbia, rather than as originally planned in Valjevo, western Serbia.

“Resignation not attempt to topple govt.”

Outgoing Health Minister Tomica Milosavljević says that his resignation is not an attempt of G17 Plus leader Mlađan Dinkić to topple the government. “That certainly was not the reason for my resignation. Departure of one minister, in regards to a large number of ministers, is a relatively easy problem: you replace him,” he told daily Politika.

Controversial deal with Slovenians approved

The Serbian government approved at a telephone session on Thursday afternoon a deal signed between MlaÄ‘an Dinkić and Slovenian company Gorenje. With it, the company’s will make an investment in Zaječar (eastern Serbia), and receive EUR 10,000 for each person they employ, according to a plan of the Ministry of Economy, headed by Dinkić.

New location for Fiat cooperative factories

Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić confirmed today that Fiat had given up on building its cooperative factories at Korman Polje in Kragujevac.

He has announced that a new location for producers of Fiat components will be Grošnica military complex near Kragujevac.

Dinkić “didn’t say what he said”

MlaÄ‘an Dinkić has denied that he promised Serbians they would each get EUR 1,000 in free shares so that Boris Tadić could be reelected the country’s president. The deputy PM and economy minister, and leader of G17 Plus party and the United Regions of Serbia coalition, recently spoke for Belgrade’s Danas newspaper, which then ran the headline, “I promised EUR 1,000 for the sake of Tadić”.

“I made promises so Tadić could win”

MlaÄ‘an Dinkić says Boris Tadić won his second term in office as Serbia’s president “partly thanks to the promises Dinkić made”.

The government minister, deputy PM and leader of G17 Plus and United Regions of Serbia parties told Belgrade daily Danas that his promise that each citizen would get EUR 1,000 in free shares propelled Tadić to victory in the presidential elections almost three years ago.

Government to set minimal Telekom price

The government will today set the minimum opening bid for the sale of 51 percent of its shares in Telekom Srbija. This should amount to approximately EUR 1.4bn, Serbian Minister of Economy Mlađan Dinkić announced on Wednesday, and expressed expectation that a higher bid will be offered in the course of the auction.

President, minister “agree about salaries”

Boris Tadić believes that state officials should not receive salary increases while the crisis lasts, and Mlađan Dinkić agrees. Dinkić, leader of the ruling G17 Plus and economy minister in the current cabinet, said on Tuesday in Belgrade that this increase can be postponed until April 2011.

“Serbia has 51,000 women entrepreneurs”

There are currently 51,000 companies owned by women in Serbia, which is 17 percent of the total number of companies in the country. This is according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mlađan Dinkić, who spoke in Belgradd on Wednesday.

Serbia’s budget deficit 4.8% of GDP

Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić says the 2010 budget review includes a deficit of 4.8 percent of the GDP, as agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“We have not changed a thing compared to what we agreed on two months ago. Budget expenditures are in line with what was agreed with the IMF, and the deficit stands at 4.8 percent of the GDP, also according to the agreement,” Dinkić told reporters during the Euromoney conference.

Subsidized cash loans to be discontinued

Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mlađan Dinkić announced that the subsidized cash loans for citizens will be abolished as of 2011. The loans, introduced to boost domestic demand, are now nearing their end of life, while the loans for investment liquidity will remain.

Minister hopes for USD 4bn FDI next year

The Serbian government should aim at attracting investments in the amount of USD 4bn in 2011, says Mlađan Dinkić.
This goal is realistic and attainable taking into account the foreign companies’ interest in investing in Serbia, according to the Serbian economy minister.

Minister: Fiat to invest EUR 1bn

Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić said that Fiat plans to invest about EUR 1bn in the Kragujevac automotive industry in 2012. By the end of 2011, the production of a test series of a new model B Fiat vehicle would begin and the production capacities will be in between 200,000 and 300,000 cars per year.

Economy Minister opposes increase of VATs

G17 plus leader and Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić said that there will be no increases in Value Added Taxes (VATs) in the next two years. He said that his party officials would not be voting for such a proposal in parliament.

“WAZ was not good and transparent investor”

Economy Minister MlaÄ‘an Dinkić says that Germany’s WAZ Media Group “was not a good investor in Serbia”. This, he elaborated, was since its business here was not transparent.

Economy minister: No VAT increase

Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mlađan Dinkić on Monday stated that VAT and payroll taxes will not be changed in the next two years.

“In the next two years I do not expect any changes, either in the VAT or payroll taxes. Taxes will not be changed by the end of this government’s mandate,” Dinkić told reporters after the opening of a new plant of the Galenika pharmaceutical company.

EUR 100mn to be invested in sports

Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić said that the state will invest EUR 100mn in the construction of sporting venues, including 10 football stadiums. Dinkić said that the government passed the decision for the sports investments on Thursday, and that this will be helping the construction industry as well, which has had an especially difficult time during the economic crisis.

Minister calls for equal treatment of Serbian companies

Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić said that Serbian companies in Croatia must receive the same treatment that Croatian companies do in Serbia. Dinkić met with his Croatian counterpart Đuro Popijač to talk about increasing economic cooperation between the two countries.

Govt. won’t sell Galenika pharmaceutical

Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić says it was decided that the Belgrade-based pharmaceutical company Galenika will not be sold. This came since, according to him, none of the bidders who wished to buy the state-owned firm were “world known companies”.
