“Government hasn’t discussed FM’s dismissal”

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić stated on Sunday that the government had not discussed Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić’s dismissal.

He points out that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) did not have any objections to Jeremić’s work so far and that he does not wish to comment on the position of the Democratic Party (DS) concerning the issue.

“Kosovo status should be discussed first”

Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolić has stated that Belgrade-Priština dialogue should begin with talks about the issue of Kosovo status.

He told daily Večernje novosti that talks about so-called life issues, mentioned by Serbian President Boris Tadić, were actually establishing Kosovo as an independent state.

False asylum seekers issue discussed

Serbian IM Ivica Dačić and Bavarian State Minister for Federal and European Affairs Emilia Muller say abuse of visa liberalization must be prevented.

Dačić will also speak with Belgian State Secretary for Finance, Migration and Asylum Melchior Wathelet about the issue of false asylum seekers that threatens Serbia’s “white Schengen” visa regime.

Elections in Kosovo discussed

Date of Kosovo elections remains unknown, while in Priština the consultations are ongoing between acting President Jakup Krasnici and the parliamentary parties. The parties have suggested that early parliamentary elections in Kosovo be held either in early February next year, the middle of that month or early March.

Serbia’s candidacy to be discussed Oct. 25

EU Foreign Affairs Council will discuss Serbia’s request for EU membership at the meeting in Luxembourg on October 25. This is according to Belgian Foreign Minister Steven Vanackere.

Human trafficking discussed in Pristina

EULEX officials and representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and interior ministries of Serbia and Hungary met in PriÅ¡tina, say reports. They discussed trafficking of people from Kosovo to the EU member states, the Special Prosecutor for Organized Crime Miljko Radisavljević said in a statement in Belgrade on Thursday.

“Status should also be discussed”

Begrade and PriÅ¡tina should discuss everything, including the status of Kosovo, says Slovakian FM Mikulas Dzurinda. “I’m sure both sides will be open to negotiations on all subjects and I think that no issue should be off limits,” he told Belgrade daily Večernje Novosti.

Minister: Status should be discussed as well

Serbian Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanović said stated that all disputable issues, including status, should be discussed with the Kosovo Albanians. He said that solutions for the preservation of the Serb community and improving living conditions, along with many other problems must be found, but added that the status of the province is also a central issue for Serbia.

“Kosovo partition not discussed”

Former Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandr Alekseyev “no important official” has said lately that a partition of Kosovo was realistic.
He told Belgrade daily Večernje Novosti that such an outcome had been discussed a long time ago, and “even during negotiations in Rambouillet”, prior to NATO’s attack on Serbia in 1999.
