Hong Leong Finance gains 0.7%; loan growth to pick up, says DMG

Hong Leong Finance (S41.SG) is up 0.7% trading at $3.00 (FTSE ST All-share index down 0.5%) as investors shrug off unexciting FY09 results to bet loan growth improving. Order book quotes suggest near-term resistance lies at Feb 4 high of $3.05.

The financial services firm says net loan assets fell 17.2% y-o-y to $6.1 billion in FY09 as repayments by borrowers outpaced new loans.

Marco Polo gains 3.5%; more contracts expected, says DMG

Marco Polo Marine (5LY.SG) gained 3.5% to 44.5 cents as company secures US$10 million ($14 million) contract to transport coal in Indonesia to existing customer for 17 months.

The contract value substantial considering company’s entire revenue for December quarter at $12 million.

Marco Polo expects deal to boost earnings for current FY ending September.

China Fishery gains 2.2%; Oslo listing positive, says DMG

China Fishery Group (B0Z.SG) bucks falling market after the industrial fishing company announces application for secondary listing on Oslo exchange has been approved by Oslo Børs.

Its shares have gained 2.2% at $1.84 vs FTSE ST All-Share index down 0.5% with resistance tipped at current 2010 closing high of $1.95.

Proposed listing is first Singapore-Oslo dual listing application following last July’s agreement between the two exchanges to facilitate dual listings.

Goodpack price target raised to $1.85 by DMG, keeps ‘buy’ call

DMG has raised Goodpack’s (G05.SG) target price to $1.85 from $1.44 after adjusting discounted cashflow valuation parameters to reflect intermediate bulk container supplier’s 2Q10 earnings and prospects in coming years.

It says the company’s synthetic rubber business will play key role in driving earnings in next two years, while its six new business segments, including LCD panel and automotive parts, will start contributing over same period.

ASL Marine gains 0.6%; O&M market picking up, says DMG

ASL Marine Holdings (A04.SG) is up 0.6% to 90.5 cents after company announces new shipbuilding contract worth $38.5 million.

DMG notes latest contract win by ASL Marine has come on the heels of a slew of other contract wins by other offshore & marine (O&M) players such as Ezra Holdings (5DN.SG), Keppel Corp. (BN4.SG) and Swiber Holdings (AK3.SG).

SembMarine cut to ‘neutral’ by DMG with price target of $3.31

DMG has downgraded Sembcorp Marine (S51.SG) to “neutral” from “buy”, cutting its target price to $3.31 from $3.74, citing overly bullish past forecasts for new orders, saying consensus expectation of $5–$7 billion worth of new orders in FY10 is too optimistic.

Bottom fishing in STI looks risky, says DMG

Singapore shares continue to outperform region as heavyweights like banks and SingTel (Z74.SG) offer support, although STI are off highs and a question mark hangs over sustainability of rebound, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

The STI gained 0.3% at 2,692.48 vs morning high of 2,700.85 (+0.6%) with immediate resistance at 2,700.

New Vietnam JV positive for Ezra, says DMG

Ezra Holdings (5DN.SG) fails to get boost from agreement to form a joint-venture company to supply floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Vietnam project as broad market weakness, particularly in energy plays, weighs, says Dow Jones Newswires.

Its shares were down 4.1% at S$2.12 (FTSE ST Oil & Gas index down 3.7%) with support eyed at last week’s low of $2.04.

SATS upgraded to ‘buy’ at DMG, ups target to $3.07

DMG has upgraded Singapore Airport Terminal Services (S58.SG) to ‘buy’ from ‘hold’, raising its target price to $3.07 from $2.63, based on discounted cashflow valuation, to factor in improving business prospects.

DMG also notes the sequential improvement in aviation revenue for 3Q10 ended December and the resilience of food business.

CWT share forecast raised to $1.19 From $0.82 at DMG

CWT had its share-price forecast raised to $1.19 from 82  cents at DMG & Partners Securities Pte.
 
The brokerage maintained its “buy” rating, saying CWT may book exceptional gains of at least $138 million when it lists its proposed logistics real estate investment trust on the Singapore exchange.

DMG & Partners Securities in a Jan 11 research report says: “Whether be it from a P/E or P/B perspective, the valuations of hard disk drive (HDD) component manufacturer Broadway Industrial is appearing to be cheap.

Boustead Singapore gains 5.7% on expectations of more project wins, says DMG

Boustead Singapore (F9D.SG) shot up at the opening, gaining 5.7% to hit 83.5 cents or more than its three-month high, as news of its engineering group’s order book reaching $500 million in two weeks fuel interest.

Boustead’s total contract value was boosted by its latest project worth $68 million to supply equipment to energy plants in Australia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, UK. The deal comes just two weeks after Boustead landed its record largest contract, worth $107 million, to build production plant.

Adampak rated buy

DMG & Partners Securities in a Nov 20 research report says: “Adampak saw 3Q09 sales of US$14.8 million (+12.6% q-o-q, flat y-o-y) while net profit came in at US$2.0 million (+36.2% q-o-q, -10.2% y-o-y) as the sequential recovery in the HDD industry saw the company experience better economies of scale – this had in turn led to higher gross margins.
