Discovery Completes Tricky Docking Maneuver
Loss of space shuttle’s Ku-Band antenna system upon takeoff forces Commander Alan G. Poindexter to complete a tricky predocking, nose-over-tail 360-degree maneuver.
– Discovery Commander Alan G. Poindexter completed a tricky, nose-over-tail
360-degree maneuver just before docking with the International Space Station
early April 7. The maneuver was necessary, since Discovery’s Ku-Band antenna
system was knocked out upon takeoff April 5.

Space Shuttle Endeavour Readies for ISS Docking
Endeavour’s payload includes the Tranquility node — the last U.S. portion of the International Space Station — which will provide additional room for crew members and many of the space station’s life support and environmental control systems. Attached to Tranquility mode will be a a cupola, which houses a robotic control station and has seven windows to provide a panoramic view of Earth, celestial objects and visiting spacecraft.

the space shuttle Endeavour began Feb. 9 to prepare for an early Feb.
