Bettye LaVette: New Album Tour With Robert Plant

NEW ALBUM COVERS PINK FLOYD, STONES, BEATLES, ZEPPELIN AND MORE

Bettye LaVette

Bettye LaVette has been invited by Robert Plant to open a string of dates in July. These shows come on the heels of her forthcoming new album, Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook, arriving May 25 on Anti- Records, which includes LaVette’s rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “All My Love.”

Produced by LaVette, Rob Mathes and Michael Stevens, Interpretations is a 12-song journey through compositions by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Traffic and Pink Floyd, among others, before concluding right where the very idea for the new album started: Bettye’s rendition of The Who’s “Love Reign O’er Me” from the 2008 Kennedy Center Honors, which appears as an extended bonus track.

About the new album, Sheryl Crow attests, “I’ve been on the same stage with Bettye twice in the last year and have been captivated each time. On her new album, Bettye finds her own way into these legendary songs yet still is able to remain faithful to the spirit in each of them. Her unique phrasing and raw honesty enables us to appreciate the words in these classics in a whole new way. Just a master class in song interpretation.”

Slayer/Megadeth/Testament: Set New Tour Dates

SLAYER, MEGADETH ANNOUNCE NEW, CONFIRMED SCHEDULE FOR
AMERICAN CARNAGE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Slayer

Slayer and Megadeth are thrilled to announce confirmed routing for the American Carnage North American Tour, which will commence with the rescheduled Canadian Carnage East dates in Quebec City on Friday, July 23.

Slayer will then head to Europe for a run of festival dates, returning to kick off the American Carnage leg in Albany, NY on August 11. American Carnage will play 26 dates across the United States and Eastern Canada up to the Labor Day weekend, ending in Portland, OR on September 4. Testament will be Special Guest on all shows.

Tickets purchased for the American Carnage shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates. Complete information regarding ticket sales can be found at Slayer’s wesbite, Megadeth’s site and/or Testament’s site.

Due to venue availability and other conflicts, the shows originally scheduled in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth, and Louisville cannot be rescheduled at this time, and ticket holders may obtain refunds at point of purchase. However, new cities have been added to the American Carnage itinerary, with dates now scheduled in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento. The confirmed, complete itinerary is below.

The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be put on hold due to Slayer’s vocalist/bassist, Tom Araya‘s ongoing, minimally-invasive treatments for what was diagnosed as a Cervical Radiculopathy, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Right after the first of the year, Araya made the difficult decision to undergo a surgical procedure, called an Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion, a relatively routine practice with an excellent recovery rate. That surgery took place early last week.

“The doctors said that Tom’s surgery went very smoothly and was a resounding success,” said Rick Sales, long-time Slayer manager. “He’s home now, doing really well, and he said the numbness in his fingers had already diminished considerably.”

Shortly after the surgery, Slayer’s Kerry King received a text from Tom: “Awake and feeling good, actually whatever he did, it feels better.”

The American Carnage Tour will mark the first time that Slayer, Megadeth and Testament will have toured the U.S. together since 1991′s epic Clash of the Titans tour, making this truly a “must-see” event.

Slayer recently announced the rescheduling of its headline tour in the U.K. and Europe, and Megadeth and Testament are currently on tour together playing U.S. cities that will not be on the American Carnage itinerary.

Norah Jones: 2010 Tour Dates

NORAH JONES ANNOUNCES 2010 U.S. TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF HER ACCLAIMED NEW ALBUM THE FALL

Norah Jones

Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Norah Jones has announced U.S. tour dates in support of her critically-acclaimed new album The Fall, which was released by EMI’s Blue Note Records on November 17. The 36-city tour will kick off March 5, 2010. All tour dates listed below. A select number of shows will go on sale beginning Friday, December 4. Ticketing information is available here.

Jones is also premiering several remixes from The Fall this week. On December 1, RCRD LBL presented “That’s What I Said (The NYC Remix by Adrock and Mike D).” On December 2, Stereogum presented “Chasing Pirates (Santigold and Snotty Remix).” On December 3, Artist Direct will present “Chasing Pirates (Droogs Remix),” which was created by a remix collective that included Beck. The remixes will be released digitally and on vinyl on January 12, 2010.

“We decided to have people I admire do some remixes,” Jones recently told Entertainment Weekly. “[Adrock and Mike D of] Beastie Boys did one, and Beck, and Santigold.” Jones first collaborated with Beastie Boys during the 2008 presidential election when they recruited her for their Get Out The Vote concerts, which also included Santigold. Jones also appeared in the season finale of 30 Rock this past May along with Mike D and Adrock. Jones and Beck first met when they performed together on KCRW’s holiday concert in 2002.

The Fall finds Jones experimenting with a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others. Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River‘s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris. King also helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

Praise for The Fall

“Jones is standing tall on The Fall… A terrific batch of songs that smartly address her recent romantic travails.” — USA Today

“Jones sounds more confident and stretches her songwriting muscle… Her continued growth as a writer, not just as singer, brings another exciting dimension to The Fall.” — Associated Press

The Fall has been billed as Norah Jones’ rock album. In fact, it’s something even more surprising: a hot-blooded soul record.” — SPIN

Alice In Chains have announced dates for a North American tour set to kick off at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver on February 2, 2010. Tickets go on sale December 4 and 5. The band is touring in support of its critically acclaimed new album Black Gives Way To Blue (Virgin/EMI), which entered Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart at No. 5, with first-week sales exceeding 126,000 copies.

The band’s electrifying set list will spotlight classic hits and new favorites, including new single “Your Decision,” which hits radio December 7. The band recently shot a video for the song with director Stephen Schuster, who they previously worked with for the video “A Looking In View.”

Los Angeles-based AIC fans can catch the band performing at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show at the Gibson Amphitheatre on December 12. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, November 21 and proceeds will benefit two local charities, Para Los Ninos and the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center. On November 24, the band will also perform three songs acoustically for a special Yahoo! Maximum Performance, which can be seen on Yahoo! Music.

In other news, Alice In Chains recently released a Black Gives Way To Blue iPhone app, which features full songs from the album, music videos, news, photos, social networking and much more. The app separates itself from the pack with an impressive level of interactivity; its custom-built functionality allows fans to interact with each of the album’s 11 tracks via a touch, drag and hold feature that reveals hidden visual gems. A demo of the app (which was designed and developed by Mobile Roadie, Streetwise Concepts & Culture and EMI Music) can be viewed here.

The band (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, guitarist/vocalist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney, and bassist Mike Inez) is currently touring Europe and recently performed on the U.K. television show Later … With Jools Holland. The international dates followed a sold-out U.S. buzz tour and performances on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and back-to-back nights on Jimmy Kimmel Live. All three shows saw AIC perform chart-topping lead single “Check My Brain,” which hit No. 1 on the Modern, Active and Rock formats, and was hailed by Spin magazine as “one of the catchiest songs of Alice In Chains’ history.”

Slayer, Megadeth, Testament: American Carnage Tour

SLAYER, MEGADETH TEAM UP FOR AMERICAN CARNAGE TOUR
Co-Headliners to Tour the U.S. Together For the First Time in Nearly Two Decades,
Testament to be Special Guest, Recession-Proof $10.00 Tickets Available in All U.S. Markets

Slayer

Slayer. Megadeth. Two names synonymous with fierce, crunching power. Two bands whose histories are inevitably intertwined in defining the thrash/metal genre. Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline the American Carnage tour, which will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. Ticketmaster is offering a special presale for most shows from Wednesday, November 18 at 10AM until Thursday, November 19 at 10PM.

American Carnage is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991′s epic Clash of the Titans tour. To celebrate that, and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the “1991 price” of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more.

In addition, Testament, who was also on the ’91 Clash of the Titans bill, will be special guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a “must see” metal event.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth’s 2009 album, ENDGAME, and Slayer’s World Painted Blood, the band’s 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3. Testament’s The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada – Canadian Carnage – marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years; and then six co-headlining Carnage dates in Australia followed in October.

According to various Canadian press outlets last summer: “It was a night of thrash impossible to trash…” “Tales about war, death, destruction, Satan, aliens and serial killers have never been so much fun…” “The two heavy metal heavyweights…went head-to-head on a level playing field. Both bands brought their ‘A’ game. And the results were anything but pretty – unless you include pretty freakin’ loud and pretty freakin’ awesome.”

Widespread Panic: Fall Tour And Archival Release #4

Widespread Panic: Fall Tour Dates & Archive Release #4

Widespread Panic

Widespread Panic tour dates for November have just been released. This tour finds the band heading out West, the Midwest, and back down to the Southeast. Dates include three-night runs in Los Angeles and Oakland, CA, and Milwaukee, WI.

The band will also release Archive Release #4 – Club Soda, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, September 8, 1997. For this live offering Panic goes north of the border for a gem that not too many people were aware of at the time… or maybe even since. Having played some traditional arenas and stages in the 1990′s, the boys find themselves back where it all began… in a bar. Only this time, it’s in the second largest French-speaking city in the world. Certainly a world away from Athens, GA. From the opening notes of “Heroes” all the way through the four song encore, the crowd makes the boys feel right at home. Whether you were there or have heard it since, you haven’t heard it like this. WP Sound Engineer Chris Rabold has once again dialed in the multi-track mix that puts you right in front of the soundboard and captures the energy that creates this show.

So, take a trip out to LiveWidespreadPanic.com or Widespread Merchandise for the pre-order routine, hang tight until the official release date of 10/6/09 hits and then sit back, relax, and enjoy our road trip to Canada.
