Beckham confronts fans after boos

David Beckham was booed and jeered during his first home game for Los Angeles Galaxy since returning from a loan spell at AC Milan.
The 34-year-old England midfielder missed the first half of the Major League Soccer season after extending his spell with the Italian side.
Ironically, the Galaxy were playing Milan in a friendly and Beckham confronted angry fans at half-time
"The majority of fans have been great," Beckham insisted afterwards.
"It was only one or two that, you know, it was to be expected. I expected it to a certain point.
"Sometimes it goes beyond it. It went beyond it a couple of times."
"His charisma is very important for other players. We are really happy with his situation"
AC Milan manager Leonardo
Boos were louder than cheers as the players were introduced prior to kick-off and every touch from the former England captain was jeered early on by sections of the 27,000 sell-out crowd.
Several fans made their displeasure known with banners and as the players went off at the interval Beckham had to be escorted from the field by security as he walked over to an area of seats to confront jeering fans.
One supporter jumped down and had to be restrained before being taken away.
It marked the end of a turbulent week for Beckham since his return to the United States, who also had to placate team-mates following comments by Galaxy captain Landon Donovan.
The pair met with coach Bruce Arena after Beckham responded to the remarks from Donovan that accused the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player of being unprofessional.

The match itself ended 2-2, Beckham doing his talking on the pitch by having a hand in both Galaxy goals.
For the first he played a trademark cross-field ball to Donovan, who then set up Alan Gordon, while for the second, and with Galaxy 2-1 down, it was Beckham’s corner that was headed home by Bryan Jordan.
After that he turned to a section of fans who had been particularly vociferous and shrugged his shoulders, while he applauded those fans who had been supportive when he was withdrawn in the 75th minute.
"There’s not another player on this team or in this league who can make those kinds of plays," stated Donovan. "That’s going to be crucial for us."
Earlier this year, Beckham said he wanted to remain with the Italian club rather than return to the Galaxy.
He also revealed earlier this month he would consider a return to the Premier League because it would improve his chances of playing for England at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Milan manager Leonardo did not rule out a return to the San Siro for Beckham.
"His charisma is very important for other players," he said through a translator. "We are really happy with his situation."
Beckham played in Galaxy’s 3-1 win at the New York Red Bulls during his first game back in the US and with six games of the MLS season remaining his side are third in the Western Conference.</p

Beckham in Premier League U-turn

Former England captain David Beckham would consider a return to the Premier League to boost his chances of playing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The 34-year-old midfielder, who plays for Los Angeles Galaxy, said he would never turn out for another English side when he left Manchester United in 2003.
But in a U-turn, he stated: "Never say never. I would definitely consider it.
"When I left my heart was in Manchester – I couldn’t see myself playing against United. Now I wouldn’t rule it out."
Beckham has a five-year Major League Soccer contract, which began in 2007 and allows for him to spend the off-season on loan at a European club.
"We’re getting past it, we’re moving on. I regret the way that I went about this process and I also regret some of the things I said"
Galaxy captain Landon Donovan on his falling out with Beckham
He has only recently returned to the United States following a five-month spell with AC Milan.
His interest in a return to England is likely to spark rumours of a move to Chelsea this winter after he impressed new Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti, who was Milan coach during the player’s time in Italy.
However, a return to Serie A seems the more likely move.
"Obviously, Milan expressed that they want me to go back, so I don’t see any reason why that would change," added Beckham, who left Old Trafford to join Real Madrid.
"We’ll have to wait and see. I hope to be going back there."
And Beckham, who is England’s most capped outfield player with 112 appearances, has reiterated his desire to see out his Major League Soccer contract.
"I intend to stay until the end of my contract and maybe further," he confirmed.
"I’ve always said that. I’ve always said, even when I went to Milan, that I’m committed to the Galaxy and to MLS, and that hasn’t changed."
Beckham is currently trying to mend relationships with players and fans in Los Angeles that soured after he opted to stay in Italy rather than return to the US for the start of the MSL season.
606: DEBATE"Would you want Beckham at your club"
BBC Sport’s Peter Scrivener
His Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan suggested Beckham had shown a lack of commitment and that his level of dedication to the club had waned since his arrival in July 2007.
The duo met, along with manager Bruce Arena, when Galaxy training resumed on Monday, and Beckham said: "I’m not going to talk about what was said. That was between me, Landon and the manager but we had a good talk."
Donovan too is keen to put recent events behind him, adding: "We’re getting past it, we’re moving on.
"There’s a lot of things I regret. I regret the way that I went about this process and I also regret some of the things I said.
"Some good will come out of it. I really believe that. I believe we’re getting to the bottom of things we needed to." </p

Sometymes Why:Your Heart Is A Glorious Machine
By: Dennis Cook
“I’m gonna take you home and have my way with you/ This will be a memory that’s gonna stay with you.”
Seduction can rarely be consciously manufactured. The real deal fills our senses and inspires unreasonable, perhaps even unwise reactions, but lordy it feels good. Sometymes Why‘s new album, Your Heart Is A Glorious Machine (released March 10 on Signature Sounds), opens with the above line and then seeps, pheromone-like, into the listener – unrushed, warm to the touch, prickly in captivating ways, expertly executed throughout. Trust me, you’re pretty much done for when this trio – Kristin Andreassen (Uncle Earl), Aoife O’Donovan (Crooked Still) and Ruth Ungar Merenda (The Mammals) – starts working their wiles on you.
There’s a gorgeous, subtle overlap to this collaboration that suggests nothing less than an estrogen rich answer to early Crosby, Stills & Nash, where each primary is so strong they’d handily hold the spotlight alone but taken together they’re harmoniously lethal, serving consistently excellent material and keeping the arrangements and production airy, their fantastic, character rich voices never overshadowed by any other element. That said, their instrument switching instincts are spot-on, knowing just when to add a shimmer of tambourine, bell toned glockenspiel or heartbeat drum to the largely acoustic settings. Early Joni Mitchell is the easy reference point, but Sometymes Why is tougher, less man-handled, more aware of their power and more willing to use it than that legendary waif of the canyon.
I’d hate to oversell Your Heart Is A Glorious Machine but if you vibe with any of the listed touchstones then you’re going to find lots to love here. Each pass reveals a new silken thread to pull, a great turn-of-phrase that wanders off with you into the night or a melody you can’t shake and don’t really want to. The sheer ‘why’ of this group is well worth pondering, and like the best lovers, they don’t spread out their secrets all at once, drawing us near for pillow talk and low dawn conversations that get at real things with a few tears and gentle kisses.
