SIRIUS XM Radio announced yesterday that it will celebrate the new year with a wide-ranging lineup of live concerts, special performances, exclusive DJ sets, a special New Year’s Eve music channel and various year-end countdowns. Here’s the rundown:
-Eminem’s “Home & Home” concert – featuring guest appearances from 50 Cent, Drake, B.O.B. and Dr. Dre, was recorded live at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI, and will play exclusively on his Sirius XM channel Shade 45 and XM channel 66 on Friday, December 31 at 8:00 pm ET.
-A special encore broadcast of Paul McCartney’s performance from the Apollo Theater from December 13 will air on The Bridge, SIRIUS channel 33 and XM channel 27, on Friday, December 31 at 9:00 pm ET.
Other NYE performances being broadcast live on Sirius XM include:

-The Disco Biscuits from the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, PA

Sirius XM will also broadcast historic and special concerts by Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Frank Sinatra, David Bowie, Flaming Lips, Jack Johnson, Phoenix, Bachman & Turner, Peter Noone, Gerald Albright and Vampire Weekend.
For dance music fans, Sirius XM will broadcast DJ Paul Oakenfold live from Rain in Las Vegas and Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello will DJ live from Roseland in New York, NY. In addition, listeners can hear DJ sets by Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell, as well as a special presentation of Tim Berg presents “Avicii LEV7LS” on New Year’s Eve. The DJ sets will air on Electric Area, Sirius channel 38 and XM channel 80.
Real Jazz, Sirius channel 72 and XM channel 70, will present NPR’s 30th “Toast of the Nation” featuring live jazz, coast to coast, with performances from Dianne Reeves, Lionel Loueke Trio, Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra with Nnenna Freelon, Jimmy Heath, Cyrus Chestnut, Nicholas Payton and Benny Green.
Metropolitan Opera Radio, Sirius channel 78 and XM channel 79, will present a live broadcast of the new production premiere Verdi’s La Traviata.
Sirius XM’s New Year’s Nation channel, Sirius channel 3 and XM channel 23, has been custom-created to serve as the soundtrack to New Year’s Eve parties around the country and will feature party hits from genres across Sirius XM’s music platform. The channel will launch on Friday, December 31 at 12:00 pm ET and will air through Saturday, January 1 at 11:59 pm ET.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals Announce Track Listing for Self-Titled Third Album Due Out June

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, the emerging Vermont-based band’s third album for Hollywood Records, will be released on June 8. Produced by Mark Batson (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Jay-Z, Dave Matthews Band), this new recording showcases Grace Potter and the Nocturnals‘ new five-piece configuration, in which singer and Hammond B3 player Grace Potter, lead guitarist Scott Tournet and drummer Matt Burr are joined by bassist Catherine Popper (Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, Hem)
and rhythm guitarist Benny Yurco.
“This record is the first time it’s really been us — the first time we’ve all found each other and ourselves,” says Potter. Adds Burr, “Every record you make, you always say, ‘This is the one.’ But with this lineup we’ve cracked the code.”
The band will showcase its new lineup and songs at SXSW, where they’ll play Antone’s March 18 as part of the Americana Music Association showcase. Potter will also perform on a string of Lilith Fair dates this summer.

Grace Potter and The Nocturnals will make their debut appearance at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28 and 29, performing at the Sundance ASCAP Music Cafe. The band will preview select songs from their self-titled album due this spring.
The Sundance ASCAP Music Cafe is the center point for music for those attending the Festival. It provides a setting where filmmakers can interact with composers and songwriters, encouraging the collaboration between the two. The Cafe will be open to credential holders from January 22-29, 2010. The Cafe is located at the Stanfield Gallery and performances will start each day at 2:00 p.m.
This will be the Nocturnals’ third album for Hollywood Records, and reveals a prodigiously skilled young band in the act of fulfilling its immense promise. The album is so clearly definitive that it simply had to bear the title Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
“This record is the first time it’s really been us — the first time we’ve all found each other and ourselves,” says Potter with unmistakable pride. “The whole thing was fluid and effortless. In my mind, an album shouldn’t be self-titled unless it feels that way.”
Produced by Mark Batson (Dr. Dre, Dave Matthews Band, Eminem, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z), Grace Potter and the Nocturnals introduces the Vermont-based band’s new five-piece configuration, in which singer and keyboard specialist Potter, lead guitarist Scott Tournet and drummer Matt Burr are joined by bassist Catherine Popper (Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Hem) and rhythm guitarist Benny Yurco, who also plays with Tournet and Burr in the GPN side project Blues and Lasers.
