Uncertainty over fate of media law

Parliament Speaker Slavica Đukić-Dejanović said that it is very uncertain whether draft changes to the law on media will pass in parliament. “As the parliament speaker, I believe that it is good that such a law has found its way into the procedures, but the question is how MPs will rate the law’s text,” Đukić-Dejanović told daily Blic.

Ruling party rejects media law

United Serbia (JS) leader Dragan Marković Palma says his party finds a draft Law on Information unacceptable. Marković, who teamed up with the Socialists (SPS) and the Pensioners (PUPS) in a pre-elections coalition, which is part of the government in another, broader coalition, explained that the opposition to the draft came as it is “contrary to European standards”.
