Defense minister: Serbia isn’t threatened

Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Å utanovac told Tanjug on Saturday that Serbia was not militarily threatened. He pointed out, however, that there was a latent possibility of security threats coming from individuals from Kosovo.

Serbia has not been combating bullies and hooligans the right way so far, Defense Minister Dragan Å utanovac told B92 in Belgrade on Thursday.

“The way for the state to combat violence is by implementing the law and imposing adequate and serious sentences,” he stressed.

Serbia to get professional army

Serbia could end up with Captain Dragan case

Court upholds Captain Dragan extradition appeal

A Sydney court has upheld an appeal by Dragan Vasiljković, better known as Captain Dragan, against his extradition to Croatia, where he’s accused of war crimes. The Australian Federal Court upheld Vasiljković’s appeal on the grounds that there was no “realistic chance“ of him receiving a fair trial if he was extradited to Croatia.

“No DSS official bought state apartments”

Opposition DSS MP Dragan Šormaz reiterated on Friday that no DSS officials had purchased apartments below the market price. He added that during the cabinet of party leader Vojislav Koštunica all apartments were distributed in keeping with the laws and regulations of the time.

No early elections, DS official adamant

Ruling Democratic Party (DS) Vice-President Dragan Å utanovac says there is no possibility that Serbia will have early elections, “especially not this year”. “I do not know in whose best interest it would be to have months of campaigning now, and then negotiate to form a government. I am sure that this would not be in the best interest of the citizens,” Å utanovac told Belgrade daily Večernje Novosti.
