Ivica DaÄić says the ruling Democrats (DS) and the opposition SNS could form a government together even though they are political opponents. The leader of the Socilialists (SPS) and first deputy PM and interior minister in the current cabinet told B92 in Belgrade on Wednesday that “SNS thinks its chances of forming a coalition with DS are diminished by SPS’s strength, and for that reason the party’s political goal is to weaken the Socialists”.

DS, SNS parties “not negotiating”
Ruling DS party official and cabinet minister Oliver Dulić says that “at the moment there are no negotiations” between his party and the opposition SNS. “We are completely satisfied with the cooperation within the ruling coalition and I am certain that once the elections are over DS will first negotiate with its coalition partners,†Dulić told B92 late on Sunday.
SPS leader: DS wants two-party system

“SNS will not form government with DS”
Leader of the opposition SNS party Tomislav Nikolić has stated that this party will not form a government with the ruling Democrats (DS). This will not take place, he explained, “even if it proves impossible (after next elections) to create any ruling coalition at all”.

Government with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is “a hypothetical possibility that will never come trueâ€, said DS deputy leader Jelena Trivan.
She told daily Danas that the Democratic Party (DS) would in the next elections look for its partners among the parties it already had cooperation with.
Opposition party denies cooperation with DS
Opposition SNS deputy leader Aleksandar VuÄić has denied that his party and the ruling Democrats (RS) are cooperating. He told B92 in Belgrade late on Thursday that the two parties – consistently topping the polls as the country’s most popular – are “most fierce possible political opponents”.

EU representatives and regional officials said at the Democratic Party (DS) Electoral Convention that Serbia’s EU future was guaranteed thanks to the DS.
Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou addressed the delegates and guests via video link to say that Serbia was fast approaching the EU, and that the DS was giving a great contribution to a European and modern Serbia, as well as to the strengthening of its democratic institutions.
DS gets new leadership
The Democratic Party (DS) elected its new leadership at the Election Convention on Saturday.
According to the DS, a total of 2,701 delegates voted in the party elections.
DS minister addresses “DaÄić for PM” rumors
Defense Minister Dragan Å utanovac has commented on reports that SPS leader and Interior Minister Ivica DaÄić would become Serbia’s next PM. Å utanovac said that the ruling Democrats (DS) did not discuss the possibility of making DaÄić the prime minister in a reshuffled government.
Tadić only candidate for DS president
The Democratic Party (DS) has determined a list of candidates for the 14th party elections.
The only candidate for president of the DS is Boris Tadić who was nominated by 164 municipal boards, the DS has announced.
Jeremić runs for DS deputy president
Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić has confirmed that he officially submitted his candidacy for Democratic Party (DS) deputy president.
He did not want to give any statement to reporters Friday when they asked him what he expected of the upcoming elections in the DS.
DS race for vice president “heats up”
Vuk Jeremić and Dragan Äilas will run for their spot in the five-member vice-presidency of the ruling DS, while Gordana ÄŒomić had already entered the race. This is according to Chairman of the Democratic Party Executive Committee Marko ÄuriÅ¡ić, who spoke in Belgrade on Monday.
Tadić: Only DS competent to run country
Leader of the Democratic Party (DS) Boris Tadić said Saturday that the DS was not aware of any party that could administrate the state better than it does.
“When it becomes easy for those who are in power (to run the country) we may cede the control of the country to others. Until then, we certainly will not do such a thing,†he stressed at a session of the DS Main Board in Belgrade.

An official of the ruling Democratic Party (DS) says the capital city derby between Red Star and Partizan should be postponed. The biggest match of the Serbian football season is scheduled for Saturday, October 23, in Belgrade.

According to the latest CeSID survey, both Democratic Party (DS) and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) have 29 percent of the voters’ support. The coalition of Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) and PUPS has about ten percent of the vote, according to the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID).
DS: No concessions made by Belgrade
Democratic Party (DS) spokesperson Jelena Trivan stated that Belgrade made no concessions regarding its draft resolution on Kosovo. Trivan stressed that no concessions were made as a result of the official visit of German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle.

DS official supports talks with Priština
Democratic Party (DS) official Dragoljub Mićunović said that Serbia needs to talk with Kosovo officials for the sake of the people living in the province. He told Podgorica daily Vijesti that the situation of the people living there is more important than the legal issues relating to Kosovo.
