EBRD puts 2010 growth at 1.6%

Serbia’s economy in 2010 will mark a slow growth of 1.6 percent, and the moderate recovery will continue in 2011. Next year the economy will grow by 2.9 percent, lead economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Peter Sanfey stated on Wednesday.

EC supports Kosovo’s EBRD membership

The European Commission gave its supports to Kosovo joining the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). After a meeting with Kosovo Economy and Finance Minister Ahmet Shala, European Commission for Economic Issues Olli Rehn said that Kosovo’s membership in the EBRD would be a “further significant step.”

EBRD to continue to support Serbia

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to invest about EUR 500mn in projects in Serbia this year.

EBRD Director for Serbia Hildegard Gacek said that these funds will be used for infrastructure, energy, energy efficiency and agriculture projects, and to support Serbian companies.

Second day of EBRD conference under way

The second day of the EBRD General Assembly conference in Zagreb has begun with the final meeting of governors from participating parties behind closed doors. Serbian Finance Minister Diana Dragutinović is participating in the talks.

EBRD considering loan for railways

The EBRD is considering giving a loan to Serbian Railways worth EUR 100mn for the restoration of Corridor 10 routes.
The money would also serve to buy 15 new locomotives and spare parts.

“Decision for Gazela Bridge credit by mid-March”

EBRD Director for Serbia Hildegard Gacek said that she expects the bank’s board of directors to make a decision on the Gazela Bridge loan by mid-March.

“We are aware of the urgency of this project,” Gacek said at a press conference.

EBRD, Srbijagas sign contract

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Srbijagas have signed a contract for a loan of EUR 150mn. The document was signed by EBRD Director for Serbia Hildegard Gacek and Director of Srbijagas Dušan Bajatović.

EBRD-Srbijagas deal signing canceled

The signing of an agreement between the EBRD and Srbijagas has been canceled today. The public will be informed about the new date for the ceremony, it was announced.

EBRD on bridge loan at end of month

EBRD will decide at the end of February whether it will approve a EUR 33mn loan for the reconstruction of the Gazela Bridge in Belgrade. This announcement came on Thursday from the public enterprise Roads of Serbia (Putevi Srbije), Beta news agency reported.

Mayor: EBRD loan conditions unacceptable

Belgrade Mayor Dragan Đilas said that the Belgrade might not take a loan from the EBRD for the reconstruction of the Gazela Bridge. He said that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) must change its condition related to the dislocation of a makeshift Roma community from under the bridge, in order for Belgrade to agree to the loan conditions.

EBRD equity investment in Serbian furniture maker

The EBRD is making an equity investment of up to EUR 7mn in Forma Ideale. The company is one of the leading furniture manufacturers in Serbia, the bank said in a statement today, and added that the money would support its further growth and the expansion of its export business.

EBRD funds Corridor 10 with new loan

The EBRD’s Board of Directors has approved a EUR 150 million sovereign loan to Serbia. The money will go to financing the construction of a new highway section – E-80 – along the strategic Corridor 10, a statement from the bank said on Friday.
