STI may edge up; 3,000 cap; eyes on earnings

Investors may nibble at Singapore shares after yesterday’s retreat, with market undertone backed by modest gains on Wall Street overnight, says Dow Jones.

Upside likely to be limited with investors eyeing earnings, which have started trickling in, with reporting season in full swing from next week.

STI expected to face resistance at 3000, while this month’s lowest close of 2,943 may provide support on any pullback; closed down 0.8% at 2,963.19 yesterday.

“Every time the market goes up, the gains have been little. Likewise when it’s down, people who had missed out will accumulate and so limit the decline,” says a broker at local bank.
