LG Electronics Shows Off Something for Everyone at CES
Phone maker LG Electronics used the opportunity of the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show to introduce more than a dozen new devices. In the mix were a handful of smartphones, including LG’s first with Windows Phone 7; 4G USB modems for Verizon Wireless and AT&T’s pending LTE network; two Bluetooth headsets& including one that runs on solar power& and a wireless charging pad. In early 2010, LG announced its goal to become one of the top two global phone makers by 2012, and part of its strategy has been& just as with competitors such as Samsung& to heartily embrace Google’s Android OS. Among the new LG phones are three Android-running Optimus models designed for first-time smartphone owners. ST Engineering’s electronics arm acquires remaining 30% equity stake in PM-B
ST Engineering says ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems) (STEE-InfoSoft) has acquired the remaining 30% equity stake in PM-B from the other existing shareholder, Nicky Ting, for a total cash consideration of $2 million.
With the acquisition, PM-B becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of STEE-InfoSoft, which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ST Electronics, the electronics arm of ST Engineering.
ST Engineering unit wins contract to supply automatic fare collection system for Bangkok MRT
ST Electronics says it has been awarded a contract to supply an Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) for the extension of the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) Sukhumvit Line in Bangkok, Thailand.
The contract was awarded by The Krungthep Thanakom Company Limited (KT), a Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Enterprise.
ST Electronics is the electronics arm of public-listed ST Engineering.

OCBC Investment Research in a Nov 18 research report says: “Avi-Tech Electronics recently released a set of 1QFY11 results that missed our expectations. Revenue grew 19.8% y-o-y (-4.1% q-o-q) to $8.2 million, but fell short of our projection of $8.9 million due to continued weakness in its Engineering Services (ES) segment.

ST Electronics wins $29m contract in smart meter market
ST Engineering’s electronics arm, ST Electronics, today announced that its subsidiary, Telematics Wireless, has been awarded a contract worth US$21.5million ($29 million) by Arad Technologies to supply Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) radio transceivers for Arad’s Dialog 3G AMR solutions.
The supply cooperation agreement between Arad and Telematics Wireless takes effect immediately and extends to 2015. Telematics Wireless is a subsidiary of ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems).

ST Engineering’s electronics arm, ST Electronics, announced that its subsidiary, Telematics Wireless, has been awarded a contract worth US$8 million (about $10.9 million) and an option worth US$2 million by Ituran Location and Control to provide “Smart” vehicle and asset tracking devices for the recovery of stolen vehicles and goods. Telematics Wireless is a subsidiary of ST Electronics’ subsidiary, ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems).

ST Engineering’s electronics arm raises stake in Telematics Wireless
ST Engineering says wholly-owned subsidiary, ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems), has increased its stake in Telematics Wireless by 2.73% for a sum of US$2.16 million ($3.07 million).
With this increase, STEE-InfoComm owns 96.66% stake in Telematics.
