Nederland, Colorado transcendental folk group Elephant Revival releases their second studio album, Break in the
Clouds, today on Ruff Shod Records (the indie label headed by Chad Stokes of State Radio/Dispatch). The
album is produced by David Tiller of Taarka and expands upon the group’s multi-genre musical approach. It is
currently available on itunes for the very special price of $7.99.
To celebrate the release of Break in the Clouds, a series of In-Store performances and meet and greets are
scheduled along the Front Range in Colorado at the end of November and early December. A full national release of
the album is scheduled for January 1, 2011, with upcoming tour dates to be announced.

Thai elephant wounded by landmine gets artificial leg

A 48-year-old Thai elephant is due to be fitted with an permanent artificial leg, 10 years after losing a limb from treading on a land mine.
Motola was measured up at an elephant hospital on Saturday before experts made the leg.
The elephant has been walking with the help of a temporary artificial leg made of canvas, the Associated Press news agency reports.
A much younger elephant at the same hospital already has a false leg.
Outgrown
Motola was injured in 1999 while working at a logging camp along the Thai-Burmese border. Her front left foot was so badly damaged it had to be amputated.
Her permanent leg is being made by the Prostheses Foundation.
Motola and a three-year-old elephant, Mosha, have both been cared for by an elephant hospital run by the Friends of the Asian Elephant (FAE).
Mosha, who is three, lost part of her right front leg as a seven-month-old. Because Mosha is growing fast, she has already outgrown three of her prosthetic limbs.
Thailand’s borders with Burma and Cambodia are littered with unexploded landmines, the result of decades of conflict.
The FAE says many elephants, often domesticated ones used in the logging trade, are injured by mines every year as they work in remote forests close to the borders.

Kenyan authorities have seized 300kg (660 lbs) of illegal ivory hidden in coffins on a plane bound for Laos.
The haul included 16 elephant tusks and black rhinoceros horns. Officials said the blood on the ivory suggested the animals had been killed very recently.
The flight – which stopped in Nairobi – originated in Mozambique and was bound for Thailand and then Laos.
The haul of ivory may have had a value of about one million dollars (£614,000,000), Reuters reports.
Officials from Kenya’s Wildlife Service said the ivory might have come from Tanzania or South Africa.
The black rhino is found only in eastern and southern Africa.
The international ivory trade has been banned since 1989. The sale of ivory is illegal if the ivory is not from pre-1989 stockpiles.
However, some countries have done little to enforce the ban. </p
