Singapore’s Olam says enters US$200 mln Nigerian sugar venture
The company, in which Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings (TEM.UL) has 14% stake, said it controls 80% of the venture, while Lababidi Group holds the remaining 20%.
“The total project cost amounts to approximately US$200 million, which is expected to be phased over three years from FY 2011 to FY 2013,” Olam said in a statement.

Commodity company Olam International (OLAM.SI) said on Friday it has entered into a joint venture to set up a US$200 million ($261.5 million)sugar refinery in Nigeria.
The company, in which Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings (TEM.UL) has 14% stake, said it controls 80% of the venture, while Lababidi Group holds the remaining 20%.
“The total project cost amounts to US$200 million, which is expected to be phased over three years from FY 2011 to FY 2013,” Olam said in a statement.

CSC Holdings has entered into a 49-51 joint venture agreement with The Pathumthani Concrete Co (Paco) to provide jack-in piling services in Thailand.
CSC says it is timely to introduce JIP services in Thailand due to the growth potential of this environmentally-friendly method of pile installation.
CSC’s partner Paco is one of the largest spun pile manufacturers in Thailand and is its long term business partner.
Paco’s spun piles have been accredited by the Singapore Concrete Institute and have been used in a number of projects in Singapore, including the redevelopment of the Royal Thai Embassy along Orchard Road.
Sunmoon Food enters into $24m convertible loan and optional $60m convertible loan facility deal
Sunmoon Food Company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Chic Foods Asia Pacific Co.
Under the deal, Chic Foods has agreed to invest in the company by way of a $24 million convertible loan and an additional optional $60 million convertible loan facility.
Both parties have also signed exclusive sourcing and service agreements.
Sunmoon Food says it will use the proceeds from the $24 million convertible loan extended by Chic to settle the outstanding principal of another convertible loan agreement signed on 21 March 2007 which amounts to $24.443 million, together with $6.433 million premium accruing.
