EPS confirms abuse of office in company

The Serbian Power Company (EPS) internal control has determined that the Kolubara Coal Mine management conducted “unscrupulous business practices”.
Internal control’s report, which confirms B92 Insajder program’s allegations, was adopted by EPS Board of Management on Monday.

Zvornik plant to be reconstructed

Serbia’s public electric company EPS and German Development Bank KfW have signed agreement on reconstruction of Zvornik hydroelectric power plant.

EPS General Director Dragomir Marković and German Development Bank KfW’s Vice President for Europe and Caucasus Roland Siller signed Friday a contract for the rehabilitation of Zvornik hydroelectric power plant worth EUR 70mn.

Agreement signed for 10 hydroelectric plants

EPS has signed an agreement with Italian company SECI Energia for founding a joint venture called Ibarske Elektrane. In the coming years, they will be building 10 hydroelectric plants along the Ibar River, worth a total of EUR 278mn.

S-chips to get EPS boost from yuan move: DBS

Singapore-listed China shares among best performers on SGX, with FTSE ST China Index +2.2% vs STI +1.3%, in response to Beijing’s call for greater yuan flexibility, says Dow Jones.

“The RMB policy move is mildly positive for S-chips in general as it translates to higher EPS in SGD terms,” says DBS Vickers; noting Chinese companies dependent on domestic demand should gain from lower import costs as they sell their products in China.

Sembcorp Industries gains 0.3%; EPS upgrades likely, says Morgan Stanley

Sembcorp Industries (U96.SG) is up 0.3% to over five-week high of $3.71 after better-than-expected 4Q09 earnings, 36.5% dividend rise.

But buying has not widespread as volume stays thin (volume has been dwindling since Tuesday), suggesting results partly priced in given unit SembMarine’s (S51.SG) strong 4Q09 performance earlier this week.

Still, some analysts hopeful Sembcorp can continue to deliver strong results.

Govt. approves electricity price hike

The government today discussed the request public power company EPS to increase the price of electricity, and approved a ten percent hike starting March 1. Previously, it was reported that EPS asked for a ten percent rise on average starting January 1, 2010, with the current price of kilowatt hour at about 4.5 eurocents.

EPS ready for new cold wave

Serbia’s public power company EPS says it is ready for a new cold wave that is expected in the next two weeks. EPS said in a statement in Belgrade on Monday that the company is prepared for possible new record consumption of electricity.

EPS reacts to wage hike controversy

Serbian state-owned power company EPS says an announced raise of its employees’ salaries will not come from higher electricity bills. The agreements signed between the Serbian government and the worker unions of EPS, and Nikola Tesla Thermal power plant “have not raised employee salaries, nor the total salaries determined by the 2010 Business Plan”, the EPS public relations service told Tanjug on Thursday.

EPS starts collecting bills in K. Mitrovica

For the first time in ten years, the residents of northern Kosovska Mitroivica have received electricity bills to their home addresses. The northern part of the ethnically divided town in northern Kosovo is predominantly Serb, while the southern part is inhabited by ethnic Albanians.

EPS wants “over 20 pct” electricity price hike

Serbia’s public power company EPS is going to ask the government for a price increase of over 20 percent over the course of the next year.
This is according to a statement today from EPS General Manager Dragomir Marković.

New demands as power cuts continue

The Kosovo company in charge of electricity supply, KEK, now wants control over EPS’ managerial building in the town of Å trpce. This is according to Å trpce municipal assembly chairman Bojan Savić. The building in question belongs to the Kosovo branch – Elektrokosmet – of the state-owned EPS power company.

EPS back in control in Å trpce

Serbian power company EPS has taken over control of its substation in the Kosovo municipality of Å trpce, KiM Radio reports. This came after the Kosovo company in charge of distributing electricity in the province, KEK, today briefly took over the substation, when its workers entered its premises by force.
