THREE NIGHTS AT TERMINAL 5 IN NY; TWO NIGHTS AT TOWER THEATER IN PHILLY

The Disco Biscuits will begin
a New Years Even run with three nights at Terminal 5 on 12/27-12/29, followed up by two nights at the Tower
Theater in Philadelphia from 12/30-31.

All five New Years shows will go on-sale at BiscoTix on Thursday, Sept. 30 at Noon ET.
The regular on-sale for these shows will be on Monday, October 4 at Noon ET

There will be a limited amount of $22.50 single day tickets for 12/27-12/30 available only at BiscoTix. These
tickets are almost half off the regular price, and they are expected to sell out right away. There will also be early
bird 3-day tickets available in limited amounts as well for the T5 shows at $67.50.

After that, the 3 day ticket price
will go to $109.50, which is also discounted from the regular ticket price. The band will also be making a 2-day
pass for New Years Eve available to help defray some of the costs of the ticketing fees.

Jay-Z and Coldplay have signed on for a New
Years Eve performance at the brand new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The performance will feature a
solo set from each artist and is to be broadcast on a 65-foot outdoor digital marquee overlooking the Las Vegas Strip.

The concert is part of a three day, invitation-only event to celebrate the opening of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
Resort & Casino.

Brothers Past: 10th Anniversary Digital Box Set, Live Gigs

LOTS OF COOL ACTIVITY FROM A TRULY MODERN ROCK BAND

It was right around this time ten years ago when Tom Hamilton, Tom McKee, Clay Parnell and Rick Lowenberg first began making music together in a house near West Chester, PA. Ten years later, Brothers Past is still going strong, and they’ve got some big plans for the next year to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the band.

They’ll be kicking off the celebration next month with an anniversary party at the famed Bowery Ballroom in New York City on October 9. The Bowery has been home to many a great BP show, including the CD release party for This Feeling’s Called Goodbye. The party begins at midnight on 10/10/10 (Saturday night, but technically a Sunday show).

The band has also announced the release of Everything Must Go, a digital box set of unreleased studio tracks and live music from over the years. And beginning in October, Brothers Past will be cleaning out the vaults by digitally releasing a soundboard recording from the past along with an unreleased studio track. The tracks will be released on the 10th of each month for the next year. Download

The remainder of 2010 will be spent balancing time between the road and the
studio. Colorado fans take note: Brothers Past returns October 7-8 with allies The New Deal. And down south, the band will be performing in Charleston, Blacksburg and
Baltimore (Oct 21-23 with friends Telepath) Plans for a Thanksgiving run will be announced soon, but one detail is the band will be back at the River Street Jazz Cafe on Thanksgiving Eve, a BP tradition.

Where The Economist is censored

SINCE January 2009 The Economist has been banned or censored in 12 of the 190-odd countries in which it is sold, with news-stand (as opposed to subscription) copies particularly at risk. India has censored 31 issues and at first glance might look like the worst culprit. However its censorship consists of stamping “Illegal” on maps of Kashmir because it disputes the borders shown. China is more proscriptive. Distributors destroy copies or remove articles that contain contentious political content, and maps of Taiwan are usually blacked out. In Sri Lanka both news-stand and subscription copies with coverage of the country may be confiscated at customs. They are then released a couple of weeks later (sometimes sooner if the story is also reported by another news outlet). In Malaysia the information ministry blacks out some stories that it judges may offend Muslims, among other things. And in Libya, four consecutive editions were confiscated in late August/early September 2009, the first of which featured a piece critical of Muammar Qaddafi.

Images can also prompt action. The cover of last year’s Christmas issue showing Adam and Eve was censored in five countries. Malaysian officials covered up Eve’s breasts. Pakistan objected to the depiction of Adam, which it said broke a prohibition on depicting Koranic figures. …
