Straits Asia Resources lowered to Fair Value by OCBC

OCBC lowers Straits Asia Resources (AJ1.SG) fair value estimate to $2.89 from $3.13; it says while SAR is a beneficiary of strengthening coal prices, “we caution against over exuberance as oil prices have also been climbing, and this could crimp the group’s profit margins given that fuel costs account for 30%-35% of its production costs.”

First REIT started at Buy by OCBC; $0.84 fair value

OCBC initiates coverage on First REIT (AW9U.SG) with a Buy recommendation and $0.84 fair value estimate.

The research house says FREIT "is well-positioned to capitalise on the growing demand for higher quality healthcare from the middle-class in Indonesia as well as increasing eldercare needs in Singapore."

OCBC notes FREIT has completed acquisitions of two Indonesian hospitals recently "which we view as yield-accretive in nature."

China Hongxing Sports secures $165m worth orders at trade fair

China Hongxing Sports says it has received an order book with RMB 849 million ($165 million) worth of orders secured at the 2011 Spring/Summer Collection trade fair, held in Xiamen in October 2010.

The October trade fair has drawn strong interest from more than 1,800 participants, boosted by the introduction of approximately 190 new footwear models and approximately 500 apparel and accessories designs. The order book of RMB 849 million represented a 24.9% increase as compared to that held in October 2009.

Nomura cuts SGX fair value; tips ASX deal downside

Nomura cuts Singapore Exchange (S68.SG) fair value to $9.30 from $10.00, factoring in lower ADR volumes; keeps at Neutral. Says ASX (ASX.AU) stock implying “high probability of deal failure,” only 21% chance of deal succeeding.

“Political statements coming out post the deal have increased concerns that regulatory hurdles would be a key stumbling block.” Says if deal goes through, SGX fair value is $8.20.

OCBC keeps Rotary Engineering (R07.SG) at Buy, raises fair value estimate to $1.22 from $1.16 following revisions to earnings projections after firm wins US$250 million ($325.4 million) contract to build petroleum storage facility in Middle East. 

Says work expected to commence 1Q11, completion slated for 4Q12, thereby boosting group’s FY11-FY12 revenue, earnings. “This latest order represents one of the group’s larger contracts and we expect it to boost Rotary’s presence in the Middle East.”

China Hongxing Sports bags $198m worth of orders from Xiamen trade fair

China Hongxing Sports says it received an order book with RMB 1 billion ($198 million) worth of orders secured at the 2011 Spring/Summer Collection trade fair, held in Xiamen in August 2010.

The August trade fair has drawn strong interest from more than 2,200 participants, boosted by the introduction of about 180 new footwear models and roughly 400 apparel and accessories designs. The order book of RMB 1 billion represented a 12.6% increase as compared to that held in August 2009.

We saw back in our government FOSE survey that cloud computing is set to follow a similar path as virtualization has over the past couple years. Both virtualization and cloud computing saw a dramatic increase in planned tools from 2009 to 2010, with a 15% jump for virtualization management and a whopping 20% jump for the cloud. We’ve known since 2008 that virtualization and cloud computing were the next wave of technological changes for IT operations.
