Security Master AV is a piece of rogue software that attempts to replicate all the functionality of a true antivirus program, instead it only offers a scam to people that install it or have it installed. It works by fooling the user into believing that they are running a true antivirus scanner when in actuality the program is a piece of malware. After it is installed on the computer it claims to “scan” the computer and find many different files that it claims are viruses. In actuality the files that it found were created by the Security Master AV software in an attempt to fool the user. If the scan results remain ignored for a period of time the software will use a series of popup reminders with fake warnings that some sort of action needs to be taken. Finally it informs the user that the only way to remove the programs are with the paid version of the software. After purchasing the software the user finds out that it is not a legitimate piece of software, and they have lost the money that they spent on it.
