International Civilian Office (ICO) Head Pieter Feith said Friday that he expected that people under investigation would not be part of a new Kosovo government.

Feith: Less tensions after ICJ ruling
The ruling of International Court of Justice (ICJ) could make room for alleviation of “tensed relations†between Belgrade and Priština, Pieter Feith stated. “After the ICJ gives the advisory opinion about the legality of the (Kosovo Albanian unilateral) independence declaration, I suppose and I hope that communication, contacts and over time, negotiations could start between Belgrade and Priština,†EU Special Representative in Kosovo and International Civilian Office chief Pieter Feith told Reuters.

Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanović said that he learned in talks with the EULEX chief that the EU mission “does not support Pieter Feith’s plan”. Bogdanović said at a press conference in Belgrade on Wednesday that EULEX Chief Yves de Kermabon told him that EULEX and the EU will not support violent or imposed solutions in northern Kosovo, where Serbs make up the majority.

EU Council of Ministers in Brussels has extended the mandate of the EU Special Representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith until August 31. The decision to extend his mandate was adopted without a debate at the meeting of justice and interior ministers.

EU member states have reached agreement to extend the mandate of their special representative in Kosovo for another six months, according to reports. Albanian language daily Koha Ditore writes today in PriÅ¡tina that the decision will be “made officially on February 22, during a meeting of EU ministers, and without a debate”.
