International Civilian Representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith and Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci today in PriÅ¡tina issued a joint statement. In it, they said that “plans for a television channel that is by Kosovo’s Serbian speakers and for Kosovo’s Serbian speakers should now be developed”.

Pieter Feith said that Serbs in Kosovo could lose power in municipalities in which they make up the majority if they boycott local elections.
The EU special representative in Kosovo said that if the local Serbs do not participate in the local elections—organized by the Kosovo Albanian institutions and scheduled for November 15—they could risk losing control of the local governments in municipalities and territories in which they make up the majority population.

According to Beta news agency, Feith made the appeal “independently†from the calls of the Kosovo Serb community leaders who urged a boycott of the ballot.

EU Special Representative to Kosovo Pieter Feith has called on all Kosovo citizens, especially the Serbs, to vote in the coming local elections on November 15. Speaking at a meeting titled “Independent Kosovo and the EU†in Vienna yesterday, he welcomed the fact that an increasing number of Serb political representatives were expressing their willingness to participate in the elections.

EU representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith says he supports the establishment of full EULEX customs control across Kosovo. A statement from his cabinet on Friday in PriÅ¡tina said that this included the EU mission’s activities to establish control over customs points of Jarinje and Brnjak, in the north of Kosovo – referred to as Gates 1 and 31.
