A new assembly line is being installed at the Kragujevac car plant, it has been announced. The completion will enable the beginning of a pilot production of a new Fiat vehicle in the Spring of next year, and the regular production as of Spring 2012, Fiat Automobiles Serbia Executive Board Chairman Giovanni de Filippis said at a meeting on strategic partnership between Serbia and Italy on Wednesday.

Fiat Automobiles Serbia would be producing two new Fiat cars in its Kragujevac-based factory by the end of 2011. The two models would be new versions of the Fiat Idea and the Lancia Musa cars.

Fiat is expected to pay its initial EUR 100mn on Tuesday to the Fiat Automobiles Serbia factory account, Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stevanović said. He told journalists that Kragujevac has regulated all issues related to property.
