Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: New Album and Tour Announced

BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB TAKES FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM INTO OWN HANDS
Beat The Devil’s Tattoo Due March 9, 2010 via Own Abstract Dragon/Vagrant Records

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is revving up to unleash their fifth studio album, Beat The Devil’s Tattoo, on March 9, 2010, signifying the band’s first full-length on their own Abstract Dragon, in partnership with Vagrant Records. This album welcomes exciting beginnings, including new drummer Leah Shapiro, as well as their new label, though the trio returned to the familiar setting of Philadelphia, PA to pen this record. They wrote and recorded it in the very studio that produced their widely acclaimed third LP, Howl, before returning to hometown L.A. to add the finishing touches.

The band’s accustomed globetrotting will recommence with an initial headline tour, kicking off February 26 in Sacramento and culminating at New York City’s Webster Hall on April 8. Pre-sale for all shows will start Wednesday, December 2, available here.

Known for their impassioned live performances, the band recently offered a two DVD, one CD set aptly titled, Live (Abstract Dragon/Vagrant), earlier this month. The DVDs feature more than two hours of concert footage captured from three sold out shows in Berlin, Dublin, and Glasgow, and chronicles the end of the band’s 2007 tour in support of Baby 81. Additionally, it includes intimate, behind-the-scenes footage, glimpses into the making of 2005′s Howl, and is rounded out with a bonus live album featuring 14 songs.

We first went when we were four and our parents used to go – they all took their clothes off, and we ran away!” The band includes Ned’s brother Maff Scott on drums, Ben Cullum on bass, and Matt White on guitar (replaced by Drew Thane on guitar for the fall tour).

The Egg will join Lotus on many of their U.S. fall tour dates. They will also be performing headlining shows in Philadelphia and New York City and a main stage appearance at Sonar in Baltimore on Halloween night.

Trampled by Turtles: Tour

Trampled by Turtles Announce Extensive Fall Tour

Trampled by Turtles

Rising roots band Trampled by Turtles are headed out on a 40+ date fall tour. The coast to coast run is highlighted by headline shows at Minneapolis’ legendary rock club First Avenue, New York City’s hippest new theater 92Y Tribeca, and two nights at Denver’s Bluebird Theater.

Separating the band from the pack is the contrast of their lightening fast punk-influenced barn-burners and their lonesome Townes Van Zandt-inspired ballads. Artvoice Buffalo had this to say: “Their most recent release, Duluth, mirrors the raw intensity of their live performances, which are sure to leave audiences simultaneously raising hell and crying in their beers.”

Music can be streamed on Trampled by Turtles’ new website: www.trampledbyturtles.com.

Alice In Chains & Elton John

Elton John Makes Guest Appearance On New Alice In Chains Album

Rock Legends Collaborate On Title Track For The Highly Anticipated New Album
Black Gives Way To Blue, Out September 29

Alice In Chains

Among the many highlights on Black Gives Way To Blue, the highly anticipated new album from Alice In Chains, is a special guest performance by Elton John. The rock legend collaborated on the album’s stunning title track, “Black Gives Way To Blue,” a heart-stirring tribute to Alice In Chains’ late lead singer Layne Staley. The album will arrive in stores September 29.

“We were thinking about adding piano to the track and a friend suggested we call Elton,” recalls guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell. “I remember laughing and saying, ‘Yeah, I’ll get right on that.’ But I decided it was worth trying and wrote Elton an email explaining what that song means to us — that it’s a real, raw openhearted song for Layne. We sent him the track and got a call shortly after saying he thought it was beautiful and that he wanted to play on it. We were blown away. Elton John is a huge influence on me as a songwriter and having him on that song is an amazing honor for us.”

Black Gives Way To Blue is Alice In Chains’ first new studio release in more than 10 years. The quartet (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez and guitarist/vocalist William DuVall) recorded the album with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters) at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA and Henson Studios in Hollywood.

Brother Ali Tour, MP3 &:Album w/ Chuck D & Ant

Brother Ali Announces New Album And North American Tour

Brother Ali

Brother Ali‘s last album, the critically acclaimed, The Undisputed Truth, was an album of bold statements and social awareness without being preachy. Ali’s new album, Us, Street Date September 22, has turned his gaze inward and starts to examine the human condition from the outside in. A profound, personal glimpse into a vulnerability seldom seen or heard in music, Us touches on the strengths and flaws of the human condition, exploring drug abuse, divorce, homophobia and many more topics that most people are scared to touch in their own lives, much less on an album for the world to see.

As with previous endeavors, the beats here are courtesy of Ant (of Atmosphere), whose production work seems to be getting more soulful and lush by the minute. The guest appearances only accentuate Brother Ali’s strengths, with Chuck D, Freeway, Joell Ortiz and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition making strong appearances.

In support of the new album, Ali is embarking on a North American tour of epic proportions, enlisting the help of labelmates and collaborators Evidence (of Dilated Peoples), BK One and Toki Wright.
