Daily on four UN GA scenarios

Serbia’s authorities are considering four possible outcomes of their draft Kosovo resolution sent to the UN General assembly, writes a Belgrade daily.
Danas newspaper writes this Monday that they consider the changes that the draft may be adopted to be slim.

“Serbia open to changes to UN GA draft”

Serbia is open to changes to its UN General Assembly draft Kosovo resolution, First Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić has said. According to Dačić, who spoke on Friday in TrgoviÅ¡te, southern Serbia, Belgrade submitted its own draft “because there was information that other interested parties were preparing resolutions”.

Serbia’s chances before UN GA “almost impossible”

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said that Serbia’s goal is to garner support for its resolution before the UN General Assembly, which would be an uphill battle. He said that even though it is almost impossible to achieve, the country would do everything in its power to convince all UN member-states that its stances are righteous.

DSS: “Great defeat” possible before UN GA

DSS leader Vojislav Koštunica said that Serbia is “falling for a trap” by bringing the Kosovo question to the UN General Assembly. The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader and former prime minister said that Serbia could suffer a “great defeat,” before the UN General Assembly, especially after the recent negative opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the legality of Kosovo’s independence proclamation.

Serbia criticized over UN GA draft

Serbia on Wednesday submitted its draft resolution to the UN General Assembly, which will debate the ICJ’s Kosovo advisory opinion in September. The draft states that Belgrade believes that one-sided secession cannot be an accepted way for resolving territorial issues, and calls on a mutually acceptable solution to be found for Kosovo via dialogue.

Parties react to UN GA Kosovo draft

The draft resolution that Serbia sent to the UN General Assembly is in conflict with the resolution recently adopted by the Serbia parliament. This is according to the opposition DSS, whose spokesman Petar Petković spoke in Belgrade late on Wednesday.

Serbia submits Kosovo draft to UN GA

The Serbian mission at the United Nations today submitted Belgrade’s draft resolution on Kosovo to the UN General Assembly.
The draft proposes that this body should adopt conclusions, related to the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion in the Kosovo case.

Serbia looks to UN GA after ICJ ruling

Serbia’s FM Vuk Jeremić stated today in The Hague that Serbia will never recognize the Kosovo Albanian unilateral independence declaration. His comments came after the International Court of Justice (ICJ), asked to give its advisory opinion on the legality of the proclamation under international law, found that since there was “no active provision that limits independence declarations, Kosovo’s declaration is not in breach of international law”.
